I stayed here over Christmas for 3 nights and the hotel is super! I had a studio - room 701 which was a big room with a view of the courtyard, the room was comfortable and well equipped including a microwave, hob, dishwasher and little things like a dishwasher tablet and washing up liquid are provided along with cleaning cloths. This room despite being next to the lifts was very very quiet and the only noise I heard was from the very occasional room door closing.
The only meal I took in the hotel was breakfast which was included in my room rate but if you are room only it is €19 per day which is rather steep but there was a good selection which was constantly replenished and included things like smoked salmon, pancakes, fresh bread, various cereals, bacon, sausages, cooked to order eggs, tea, coffee & fruit juice. Room service over Christmas period is limited, there is a special menu posted in the lift and outside the restaurant which this year included duck or salmon with dumplings and was approximately €16 plus a €2.50 delivery charge alternatively you could eat in the restaurant but it appeared closed and no one was eating there on 24th & 25th Deceomber - for room service you should order well in advanced as I tried on Christmas eve to be told it would be minimum of a 45 min wait.
Location wise it is great even after researching the hotel I couldn't believe how close Berliner Dom, Museum Island and Alexanderplatz it actually was, the nearest S bahn station at Hackescher Markt is just around the corner. Food & drinking wise there are lots of eating options within just a few minutes walk although lots of these were closed over the festive period there were still more options open Christmas Eve than I expected and even more available on Christmas day. There are several supermarkets nearby a Kaisers behind the hotel, Bio supermarket which is as the name suggests is organic and such like food which is by the S bahn station however I stopped for my main shop at Ostbahnhof as I had to change there coming in from the airport anyway and in their basement they have a big Lidl and Rewe supermarkets both are well priced and perfect for getting the essentials.
This is my 3rd time in Berlin and last time I stopped at Adina Checkpoint Charlie if you are deciding between the two I would highly recommend that you pay the extra to stop here - the hotels themselves are very similar inside but the location is just super of Hackescher Markt and there are lots more restaurants and facilities in the immediate area.
As a solo traveller the area around the the hotel felt very safe and Berlin in general is very welcoming to single travellers.
Loved this hotel and now this is my hotel of choice for when I return to the wonderful city of Berlin.
