“Cozy and Excellent Location without Great Expectations”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

I approached the hotel without much expectations after reading other reviews, however I need a place that is close enough to Ku'damm and public transports that fit my budget so Sir FK it is.

Arrived just before noon, check-in was smooth, the staff was very friendly and couldn't be more helpful where I was given WiFi passwords, a city map and my questions answered.

The room I stayed in has an odd shape as it is built around the lift shaft, I thought the lift would keep me awake but I couldn't hear anything, the slamming doors was annoying but fortunately no slamming at night. As other reviews, the decor is very modern and thoughtful but the dirty white wall was a let down.

The bed was comfortable and the room was bright with ample storage space, I could also open the window during the day and the air conditioning made it comfortable to sleep at night. Although facing Kantstrasse on the 2nd floor, I hardly noticed the traffic noise.

The shower has good water pressure but the exhaust fan wasn't working, making the windowless bathroom rather stuffy after a shower - towels doesn't dry properly as a result. The toiletries supplied by Rituals were a luxury.

The Nespresso machine is a good idea but no kettle for making tea, the mini fridge was handy to store my food and beverage bought from the nearby Edeka mini market. The hotel charge EUR18 for breakfast which I thought was over the top, there are many cafes and bakeries around the hotel that offer cheaper alternatives.

Hotel's location was excellent, I've never been to Berlin but I managed to get there from Tegel airport taking 2 buses via Zoologischer Garten depot. The S Bahn from Savignyplatz also take me straight to Hauptbahnhof and Alexanderplatz and the Ku'damm shopping area is just 20 minutes walk away. There are some good restaurants on the opposite side of Savignyplatz - Dicke Wirtin was my favourite for a friendly atmosphere and good German fare.

I would stay there again.

Sir likes to thank you very much for your review. It is really nice to read that you liked our hotel and its design. Of course we will also work better on the issue of the wall you mentioned and will show us from the best and whitest side!

I had seen reviews so didn't expect a reception desk, however we arrived late and there wasn't anyone around to greet us, in fact, there was no one around at all. Eventually had to go into the bar to get attention. Check in was brisk but unwelcoming, we were basically given the room key and asked to sign. The room itself was ok, quite small even though I had booked a 'double superior' and it certainly wasn't the cleanest hotel I've stayed in. There was no hotel or local area info available in the room and we had to go back to the bar to ask about breakfast arrangements etc. The staff who worked the breakfast were pleasant and helpful and there was a decent choice of food although it wasn't particularly great food. Couldn't get served at the bar on our first night at 10:55 but other nights the bar was open after that time. I was really uncomfortable with the bathroom arrangement which was two glass cubicles at the side of the bed, no privacy whatsoever and unless you like to use the toilet on view and in earshot of your partner I see nothing positive about this at all.
Overall the decor was ok, some of the staff were helpful and it is in really good location with plenty of restaurants and bars really close. We walked to pretty much all the places we wanted to go without any real need for publice transport.
It is definately not deserving of 4 stars though.

Sir is apologizing for the inconvenience you had when you arrived. Of course everybody wants to greet you at your first footstep and offers you a drink! We hope that you had a great time nevertheless and we will hardly work on these negative aspects! We would be happy to welcome you again to show you from our real and best side!
Then it would be a pleasure to offer you a nice room with a seperated bathroom. The one you stayed was a design room with integrated one.

This hotel is in an excellent location, a two minute walk from the S-bahn with excellent connections to the centre of town. A nice selection of restaurants nearby and an easy walk to the park. It is a nice hotel and there has been a lot of effort into the overall decor of the place. The relaxed lounge and bar are really cosy and inviting and it doesn't feel like you're sitting in a generic hotel bar.
Our double room could have done with a lick of paint - there were a lot of marks on the white walls. Also, if you're planning a romantic weekend away, note that the beds are made with two single duvets and not one nice big double duvet.
The bathroom was a decent size, nice Rituals toiletries. It was clean but there were a few small patches of mould on the shower floor. Also noticed two silverfish bugs which was slightly off-putting.
Inclusive mini bar is a nice touch as is the Nespresso machine but no tea-making facilities available in the room.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main road are surprisingly quiet.

Once again it comes down to the basic little details that can make or break a hotel experience.
Reception. There isn't one.
Simply put there is no one to greet you. Instead we had to look around and ask other guests to whom we should speak to. Once we were found out by the staff to be new guests, someone rushed over with a laptop and began the check in process. To which they told us that the room was not ready and that we wait. This was well beyond the stated check in times.
Rooms are small but we knew this from other reviews we had read. So small that the walls inside the room were showing many many marks of suitcase interactions.
i guess our room was rushed for cleaning, because they missed cleaning off the terrace, where plenty of cigarette ash was left.
Difficult to get a good night's rest with all of the doors slamming. These were not soft closing doors.

This hotel is geared towards the light traveling business person. Mind you if i were on business i would not stay here because of the noise of the doors slamming or noise from the busy street.

Location is great with the S-Bahn right around the corner with restaurants and shopping. Washroom and shower were great.
The bar and lounge area look great. If only the same attention would be directed to the rooms and that of a proper reception.

We stayed here for 3 nights in August 2012. The location is very convenient just two minutes walk away from Savignyplatz S-Bahn (with direct trains to Friedrichstrasse, Hauptbahnhof and Alexanderplatz for example) and a wide range of reasonably priced restaurants. It is also only a couple of minutes walk from Ku'damm shopping area. The breakfast was superb with a wide range of different things to choose from and excellent service from the staff there. The rooms were quite spacious, very clean and we even had a small balcony (which wasn't as clean, but that's nitpicking). In summary, should I choose to return to Berlin I would look at the availability of this hotel before looking at any other.

Good location. Simple boutique style decor. Very friendly & helpful staff.
The bedrooms are very simply decorated & could do with improved bathroom facilities & better wardrobes for clothes, etc. Otherwise all great.
Nice breakfast buffet too!

Room Tip: Higher floor with a room overlooking the garden.

Nicely designed and perfectly located hotel, right at Savignyplatz, close to all public transport and the Berlin zoo.
The hotel has a very nice design, both the rooms as well as the lobby area and garden. The garden is also a very pleasant spot to have breakfast or a glass of wine in nice weather. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
The room was quite spacious and quiet. The only downside was the shower and toilet, which were not in a separate room but located next to the bed and did not allow for a lot of privacy.
