My partner and I stayed here in July for two nights. This hotel is very functional and simple.

Pros:
- Low rates
- Excellent location to tourist attractions and mass transit like Checkpoint Charlie and U-Bahn
- Simple, contemporary design
- Free wi-fi
- Toiletries in the bathroom were great; a Greek company I had never seen before

Cons:
- No air conditioning or fans, which would have been helpful for the warm weather
- Bathroom shower paint was peeling
- Very small rooms; think cruise ship but even smaller, barely any place for two pieces of roll aboard luggage

This hotel is good for what it is: simple, economical, and well located. However, we would likely not stay here again just because we prefer a higher level of comfort (air conditioning).

The staffs were very friendly and speaks good English. Unstable wifi connection. Clean and modern room. Very close to Check Point Charlie. You can reach Italian, Thai, Middle East, Mc Donald's restaurant easily. The souvenir shops also available near the hotel. Underground train station is only about 5 minutes walking. Will stay here again!

Room Tip: I think stable internet connection are in lower floor rooms because we were in the highest floor and...

We stayed at this hotel for 4 days and it's a great place for exploring Berlin. Right next to Checkpoint Charlie, the rooms are clean and spacious. Would highly recommend this place. Breakfast is reasonably priced but you can go out and 2 minutes away you have an array of choice of what you want at very good prices. Well positioned for the metro too.

This no-nonsense hotel, opened since 2010, is very centrally located in a quiet street within walkin of some must-see Berlin sights as Checkpoint Charlie, the Mauer Museum and Topografie des Terrors. It is also a short walk to the U-bahn stations which bring you in a few minutes to Potsdamer Platz, Alexanderplatz, Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg...

The rooms are minimalistically designed. You can choose between a Standard room, Superior room or Junior Suite. When we booked there was an online deal which made the Superior room cheaper than the Standard room. I believe that a Standard room would have been ok anyhow, especially because you are visiting a city where you mainly use your room for sleeping.

The breakfast is served in buffet style, with an extensive choice of bread, delicatessen and condiments. We only tried it once, because we soon discovered that Berlin is the breakfast/brunch city par excellence. Compared to other places, the buffet is pricey and the buffet would become quite dull.

Although not mentionned on their website, some parking spaces are available for hotel guests (15€ per 24 hours).

This time in Berlin we wanted to live in Mitte, and we chose this hotel for being in the heart of Mitte, very close to 2 U-bahn stations, main streets, like Friedrichstrasse, and lots of sightseeing things. We stayed in a room with the view on Berlin wall. Room was pretty big, with very simple interior, but for sure with a designer's touch-) There were 2 rooms inside: one was a bedroom, and another was a drawing room. But there was no wardrobe! Only 4 shelves, and 8 hangers which were fixed! It looked amazing as a designer's thing, but seems to be not very convenient for 5 days stay-)
For minuses, it was very warm outside & you have to keep windows all the time open if you do not want to die) I don't understand why for such cosy hotel there was no idea to set air-conditioning in a proper way.
The breakfast was OK, but, frankly speaking, I don't like so many people in such small space. At around 9:30 AM there were usually 20-25 people, and it was no easy sometimes even to reach bread-) But the quality of food was very good.
I do recommend this hotel for it's location, friendly staff, and style.

Really nice hotel close to Checkpoint Charlie, located on a smaller street with almost no cars passing. Closest U-Bahn station is Stadtmitte and it is also possible to walk along Friedrichstrasse up to Brandenburger Tor. Rooms are nice and clean and I really like the style. As many others have commented on, I noticed there was no AC. Since I was traveling alone this was not a problem since it didn't get too hot in the room but I can imagine it would be quite hot when sharing rooms. Lots to choose from at breakfast and nice staff. Free wifi with good signal. Next time when I'm in Berlin I will stay here again and I really recommend this hotel to other travellers. I will also try the other Gat hotels in Paris and Barcelona.
