Had a two night staying at the Scandic Hotel for a meeting.
The hotel is big and busy and had a number of coach parties passing through during my stay. Although most of the time I didn't particularly notice this, checking in and out had a slight delay as the desk was very busy. The staff however were all helpful and friendly.
My room was large and scrupulously clean (as was the whole hotel). Everything worked, the bathroom was good and the bed comfortable. My impression when I walked into my room was that I had moved into an Ikea catalogue and this theme persists through the hotel. It isn't really a problem but the hotel is self-consciously earnest in its style and parading of green credentials.
The breakfast is tremendous with a fantastic selection of different breads and roles . The food we had for a catered dinner was adequate.
The hotel position is set back a couple of hundred meters from the Potsdamer Platz which is itself a rather busy junction surrounded by modern buildings rather than a place to visit. However, a number of sites are within walking distance of there and the immediate presence of the station is useful.
The hotel is a pleasant place to stay and does all the basics well. It also represents good value for a comfortable city center hotel.More
