“A brewery with low-quality beer and a "restaurant" with dry Flammkuchen only...”

I was terribly disappointed with this place. I had always wanted to go but never made it to the Wedding area where it is located. I've visited MANY breweries in Berlin and Germany, the beer here was by far the worst. Their Pils and Dunkles were flat. Their Weissbeer though had a nice fruity lighter touch then others. (2 points for that one). The service was slow.....slooooooooowwwwwwwwww and the food was, well, Flammkuchen to have at least something with the beer. The crowd was enjoyable and quite young. The brewery is located by a Student's dorm. The bar/brewery/restaurant is in a basement that looks straight out of the 60s but not in a cool retro way but rather as in: we are located in an old dark unpleasant basement...
I am not going back there.

Their beer is really tasty. Not much food is available.

There is more than one Triftstraße in Berlin. Street numbers count up in one direction on one side of the street, in the other direction on the other side. This bar is off the street, through a green area, down some stairs.

Group of six meet anually for the Berlin Bier Fest. Quite frankly we are spending more time at Eschenbrau than at the fest as the years roll by. The unfiltered Helles and Dunkles are quite superb and when the weather is favourable, sitting outside in what can only be described as a courtyard surrounded by some East Berlin's least thought out architecture is the best way to take in the whole Eschenbrau experience. Monthy specials are brewed but as we are only there in August it is only ever the Schwarze Molle athat has been offered. Staff are generally students earning their way but this makes the communication hurdle less of a problem. Only serve pfannkuchen to soak up the fab beer but around the corner there is a top notch Turkish sit in/ carry out with quite the most abundant selection of meats and assorted goodies for relative pennies.
