Owner description: this is the Egyptian Collection which was moved into the Neues Museum 4 weeks ago. it was previously closed for 10years.

The museum deals with old things, not new ones. The "neues" just refers to the more recent construction of the building (spectacular, by the way) than the "altes". The contents are: Egyptian and other Mediterranian antiquities, some of them key items in world history. The Akhenaton and Nefertiti displays are such. However, some parts of the museum - the sacrophagi - are somewhat messy and do not communicate well. Also, pictures are not allowed inside the most important rooms on the first floor. Anyway, the museum comes strongly recommended!

Fantastic Museum! The location is great. The museum had been destroyed in ww2 and has been rebuild in a fantastic way. You can taste the history in the air. The exhibition about Egypt "in Licht von Armana" gives you an amazing inside in the live in Egypt during the time 4.000bc to 500 bc. Kids get an Ipad with a special tour on it and some tasks to solve. All the kids were pretty happy with that.

This building was rebuild preserving some of the beautiful interior after destruction and many years of neglect after war and the communist regime. It houses fantastic treasures of artifacts one must see.

This is a fine museum with a tremendous collection of items from the ancient world.. If you are not an expert in such artifacts it will certainly be a bit overwhelming, particularly if you have just had your socks knocked off at the Pergamon, I would suggest not trying to see everything in detail but to take in a distinct area of interest to you, particularly if you only have a couple of hours.

The rock star object is the statue of Nefertiti. This bust is simply amazing. You will have a hard time leaving the room. This is evidenced by the massive crowds feeling the same thing. The colors are wonderful and the peaceful beauty of the piece is mesmerizing. You 15 -20 minutes in this room will be one of your treasured memories but there are so many wonderful things in the Neues. It is just so hard to have the stamina a to take them all in with some semblance of thoroughness.

It will take you a good couple of hours to even get a simple working knowledge of this place.
