“A tour and lunch”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

This was a must see for all art lovers. The gardens and the house are enchanting. We had arranged an English speaking guide who very informative really making the whole experience.
Would recommend the restaurant for lunch, good home cooked food, and if the weather is warm the view from the terrace over the river is very pleasant .

“Delightful house in a beautiful garden”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

It's a special treat to visit the house that an artist built for himself to live in. Liebermann's villa on the Wannsee is no exception. He put a lot of thought into both the garden and house the result tranquil whether inside it's walls or sitting on one of the many benches at the vantage points he created or drinking coffee on the veranda overlooking the lake. Inside is an excellent exhibition of paintings by Liebermann and those that influenced him: Millet, Degas, Monet, Manet. A varied assortment of devices are employed to infrom the visitor in a relaxed fashion. One room has computers set up with various videos that one can watch, the rooms introduce the topic with informative text and the pictures contain further descriptions. A video show on the upper flooer invites one to sit down for a while and listen on the thoughtfully provided wireless headphones. Outside the west garden has the vegetable garden and the east has roses, 3 formal hedged in areas and a birch copse. The dock cleverly creates a biotope with water lilies. Highly recommended.

“Tranquil & elegant”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

I have visited the house and the standing exhibition previously. The house has an interesting although sad story. It is elegant in a beautiful setting with gardens and tree path down to the lake. Max Liebermann’s paintings of the house the garden and his family are beautiful. The temporary exhibition was of female artists from the last century was disappointing to my taste. The small cafe overlooks the garden and with the view down to the lake, good coffee and tasty snacks it is a pleasant place to linger for a while.

“Tranquil lakeside artist villa”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

It's a long drive from Berlin Mitte to this museum and there is nothing else to visit in the neighborhood (besides that the Taxi driver had a hard time finding it). The front garden is very well maintained and reminds of the Lieberman paintings. The villa itself is not impressive, but the art collection is nice and representative. Long line at the self-service cafeteria to get something to drink, but the beautiful view of the lake makes it worthwhile.

“what a beautiful house”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

take the train from the zoo station to wannsee you'll be looking for the train to potsdam.get off in wannsee.outside the train station in wannsee cross the road and take the 114 bus it stops at that liebermann house. small charge here but only a few euro. the kind of setting that melts your heart.we stood in the garden watching field mice playing!view the house and history then have coffee and cake looking out over the garden towards the lake.you can walk back to the street that the bus drops you on and walk to the right this will bring you down to the conference house.we combined this with a trip on the lake and it made for a wonderful day.
