“Clean and spacious”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

We booked this hotel on previous reviews and were not disappointed. As there were three of us (two sisters and a friend) we booked a two bedroom apartment. We were agreeably surprised at how large it was and that each bedroom had its own bathroom. The place was spotlessly clean and had most things one could need. I've marked it down a little bit because the cutlery and tea and coffee supplies were on the mean side. The service however was excellent, even to a member of staff making two trips to the room to provide a corkscrew for the bottle of wine we had bought elsewhere. Room service was efficient and faster than many places I've stayed in.

The beds were comfortable and there were adequate towels and toiletries. The food we ordered from the restaurant was satisfactory but not notable.

We had a dramatic start to the weekend as we'd hardly arrived when the fire alarm went off. However the emergency exits were clearly signed and we were able to find our way out with the minimum of fuss. The fire engine arrived within a few minutes and the whole thing turned out to be caused by a burnt roll - presumably in one of the apartments!

I would definitely recommend this hotel as being central for tourists. We flew into Schonefeld and bought a Welcome card at the desk to the right as you come out into the lobby. We bought a 72 hour three zones card from here as we were only there for the weekend. It gives free travel on public transport as far as the airport and Potsdam as well as good reductions on many attractions. The RE7 train runs every half hour and it takes less than half an hour to the Hauptbahnhof. You then go down two floors to street level and there are taxis which only cost 4 or 5 euros to the hotel.

East Berlin is much quieter and more old fashioned than West Berlin which is like any other European capital. You are also closer to the main tourist attractions - the Reichstag, Museums, Checkpoint Charlie etc. I would recommend taking the sightseeing bus tour, which shows you evrything and you can hop on and off as you wish.

The Adina Apartment hotel is a comfortable place to stay in Berlin, and well located near the central railroad station. There is also a bus stop almost in front of the hotel. There is currently a massive amount of construction along Invalidenstrasse, which makes the plaza itself and walk to and from the train station a lot less pleasant than it might be.
The staff was very helpful in general and with specific questions, such as how to get back from Charlottenburg Palace after the evening concert. I had a studio, which was luxuriously large for one person and overlooked the plaza. The only drawbacks were very low water pressure in the shower and a microwave oven that got the inside of the oven and the plate too hot to touch, but left the food cold. Note that if you have a studio, you will not have a washing machine, and there is no laundry room for guests without washers.
The breakfast is a bit pricy at 19 euros, but there is an in-room coffee/tea maker, and the market in the train station has lots of choices for an in-room breakfast. I did order room service once, and was startled to find that, in addition to the price of the meal, there was a 4.50 "tray charge", something I've never seen before.
Bottom line: This is a good choice for Berlin, and I would definitely stay here again.

We had a very nice and big room in the hotel. Everything is still new and works properly. The rooms were very clean and nicely equiped.
The hotel has a small gym and a pool, to relax after a day full of sightseeing.
From Berlin Hauptbahnhof you walk 5 -10 minutes to the hotel, or you can take the Metro or the bus w¨hich stops nearly in front of the hotel.
Just next to the hotel there is also a nice bakery, where you could also have the breakfast. In your room there is also a small kitchen if you want to cook for yourself, but Berlin restaurants offer all different kind of food to reasonable prices.
With the Berlin public transport system all sightseeing spots can easily be reached from the hotel.

Really good sized apartment suite and very well appointed and equipped (including new washing machine and dryer). Location Is within easy walking distance of the central railway station. Dining available in the hotel and limited very close by - but this not really a problem and compensated for by the excellent accommodation. Staff very friendly and helpful, but buying wi-fi time from the hotel is expensive (but we did find this so elsewhere in Germany). We enjoyed our five nights here and would certainly use again.

We ve just come back from Berlin and stayed in a two bedroomed apartment which was perfect for us and our daughter. Beautifully clean, high tech and well designed apartment. This apartment is within walking distance of the main railway station and is close to the Berlin Wall, tv tower and other main attractions. Will be booking the Budapest apartment when we visit there.

I found this hotel on this website, then double-checked the reviews on a well known trip advising site, where it was (at the time) ranked #2 of all Berlin hotels. All suites feature a full kitchen and washer/dryer, plus a living room with sofa bed. Note: some of this company's properties elsewhere in Berlin have entry-level studios which may lack washer/dryer and/or kitchen.

The washer/dryer allowed me to cut the clothing in half. The kitchen allowed preparation of breakfast en suite, and we ended up cooking dinner "at home" two out of five nights, simply because it was easier to "eat in" after a heavy day of sightseeing than to go out again for supper. In addition, if one needs to catch up on e-mail and/or remote work, it may be easier to eat a simple meal in the suite rather than make a dedicated trip to and from a restaurant which may consume 2-3 hours of your time.

Please note that if your party uses the sofa bed, there is an extra charge (I paid thirty-five euros extra per night, I don't know if that is a standard charge or whether--because I had received discounts for booking 45 days early and for more than three nights' stay--this fee was higher for guests with heavier discounts). I don't think the fee was unreasonable, but one might consider going for a larger suite, say 2 BR or 3 BR, rather than using the sofa bed. I my case, I had a guest for only two nights, so it made sense to pay the fee for the two nights only.

Hotel is up to date, clean, and everything worked. Very comfortable bed and heating/cooling system. Kitchen equipped with basic cooking implements, dishes, glasses, and yes a dishwasher. Hotel provided dish towels, dish brush, liquid dish washing detergent, and detergent tablets for dishwasher. Laundry detergent was NOT provided. I brought my own (HE powder in snack-sized Zip lock bags). Bear in mind this is a front-loading washer which requires HE detergent. You can of course buy a packet of excellent German laundry detergent and bring the rest home with you, as long as you bring Zip-locks or other suitable packing material. Another tip: German washers heat water electrically from cold water fill, so expect a typical cycle to last 90-120 minutes, longer if you select a hot cycle (80 C e.g.). Dryers are electric, not sure if they are vented or condensation type, and take longer to dry than what one might expect based on US gas dryers. The rooms were well enough insulated that one could run a load overnight without hearing the noise in the bedroom.

Some tips:

1. There is a Rewe market two blocks away on Chauseestrasse, open to 22:00 Mon-Sat, closed on Sun (as most things are in Germany). Go west on Invalidenstr, right on Chauseestr, it's on the right (east side of street). Prices are reasonable. They accepted my AmEx card; most VISA and MC without chips/PIN are NOT accepted (this is not a tourist store, 99% of their patrons live there and have chipped cards). Bring cash just in case. Hauptbahnhof and Friedrichstrasse train stations both have markets, with the latter offering larger selection. I don't know the closing hours but I used the latter market on a Sunday and it WAS open.

2. The hotel is about an eight minute walk from Hauptbahnhof, which is where the TXL airport bus (Tegel) delivers passengers. It has full S-Bahn service, but only one subway line, U-55 which stops at Bundestag and then terminates at Brandenburger Tor. If your sightseeing needs can be met by these two lines, use Hauptbahnhof. A closer station (five minutes walk) is the Naturkundemuseum U-Bahn station, at the corner of Invalidenstr. and Chauseestr. It has U6 line service, with two stops to Friedrichstrasse, which boasts both east-west and north-south S-Bahn line access. U6 south of Friedrichstr. is under construction, to go south you walk 500 meters to the next station (Französischestrasse) and continue south; this gap is expected through late 2013. The southbound S6 is useful to reach Hallesches Tor (Jewish Museum), Mehringdam (the famous Mustafa's kebab stand), the AIrlift Memorial at the now-closed Tempelhof Airport (station: Platz der Luftbrücke), and Tempelhof Park (station: Tempelhof). There is a handy Balzac Coffee store next to the Naturkundemuseum U-Bahn stairs.

3. Across the small park in front of the hotel, there is an excellent Italian restaurant, Porto Nova, recommended by hotel staff. Prices were moderate, food excellent. A good safe choice when you are tired and don't want a 30 minute transit ride to and from dinner. Open to midnight, a good choice for late arrivals who missed dinner.

I would unhesitatingly recommend this hotel to others. Superb comfort and value. Very convenience to those arriving by train or by plane, and after the new Brandenburg International opens (hopefully....) in 2013, there is a direct half hour train service to main station. A taxi ride to the hotel is five euros, or if you have only rolling hand luggage, it's an easy walk in good weather. Not in a "hot" location, but I'd rather have a quiet, secluded hotel and take public transit to/from the "hot spots".With a pool, a TV in every room, a kitchen, and washer/dryer, perfect for a couple, a family, or friends traveling together.

Room Tip: Front and south of hotel face a huge hospital complex (Charité) and siren noise could be an issue in...
