“Best Sleep So Far - Do Not Miss This Hotel!”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

Entering the hotel may feel a little daunting with how creatively it is designed. However, staff was friendly (not over-reaching), and provided very good information regarding where the room is, where the breakfast area will be, and coupons to log-in information for the wi-fi access (per device).

The room is a loft, which meant my bed is at the top bunk. Sleeping here was very peaceful (I guess everybody respected every guest enough to stay quiet and not rowdy), and I would dare say even better than some hotels which claim to be 5-star but with other guests banging their doors as they go along. The temperature of the room was just right to keep me warm from the winter cold (double windows and heaters were in place).

The location is not the best (not city center), although not the worst too. It takes you about 150-200 meters to get from the hotel to the S-bahn (Warschauer Straße). This station is just a few stations away from Alexanderplatz and the Hauptbahnhof, which both get you near enough to the Bundestag, Brandenburg Gate and the remains of the Berlin Wall at Postdam.

There is also a lidl supermarket nearby (across the street, downstairs), which makes a good stop before getting back to the room for some drinks and snacks and other necessities.

Note that the breakfast (outside the room rate) is 11euros, which is not the best alternative, but acceptable nonetheless.

Stayed here for a weekend, very cool rooms, decor, staff, drinks, vibe etc etc

Basically everything is pretty amazing. V hipster and just a nice place to hang out (even if you aren't staying here).

Pretty good value too I'd say.

I'm 100% going back...

I stayed at the Michelberger a number of times last year. It was all clean and lovely, if a little disorganised but in what I thought was a charming way.
But on my last stay my iPad disappeared from my room......I'd had to change rooms as my family were joining me for a city break. I thought I might have left it in the first room and the staff were not exactly helpful in my quest to find it. I've never had this kind of thing happen so I couldn't quite believe it had gone and I started to think I'd left it at home! I'd just never had someone come in and take something - and there are no safe boxes in the rooms. My room hadn't been 'broken' into so there was no way I could claim my insurance. And emails to the Hotel fell on deaf ears.... Despite my company having spent 000's of €'s they had nothing to say.
Sadly I think that 's my last stay.... despite the great breakfasts....

Loved the ambience, the staff were all fantastic, the rooms were well designed and the location was excellent for nightlife. The rooms got way too hot at night, though - i'm not sure what that was about but i will definitely be returning. excellent value all round.

I can only say very good things about the Michelberger: staff is welcoming and helpful, the design concept is humble- chic, the breakfast buffet is rich and delicious, beds are comfortable and clean. It's fun, vibrant and young. It feels like an artistic international luxury hostel. It's very close to public transportation as well. The only issue I had is that the rooms' doors make a heavy sound when they close and , since there are LOTS of rooms on the floor, there was some noise going on at night. Overall a great value and a lovely visual and comfort experience.

The Michelberger is a fabulous place to stay, the beds were comfortable, the room we stayed in was spacious, and really - it's more of an experience than a hotel. The location was super close to public transport and there were lots of great restaurants within walking distance. The staff were helpful and friendly and I just loved it there! I have recommended the Michelberger to friends since and they are all in agreement that it is the ONLY place to stay in Berlin.
