A great basic hotel from which to explore Berlin. A hearty breakfast each morning set us up for 3 days of exploring. The room was warm and clean with a fabulous view over East Berlin from the top floor. I prefer a bath and there was only a shower, but for a short break it was no problem. A bit of an eccentric layout, with a walk through to the Holiday Inn lobby to reach the breakfast room, but it only took a couple of minutes. There was a Dr Oetker pizza vending machine on the ground floor which was an oddity. Berlin was cold and snowy, but the Xmas markets were colourful and the trams frequent. We enjoyed the city bus tour so much we took it on two consecutive days - it takes around 3 hours and you can hop on and off at all the interesting places - Brandenberg Gate, Reichstag, Checkpoint Charlie etc., Do also visit the DDR Museum - fascinating and interactive. We would definitely stay here again.
