“Not Cheap, But Worth the Money”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

We liked the Habel quite a lot. It is pricy, but we found it worth the money.

Asparagus is the thing here. Indeed, much of the menu involves ordering large amounts of asparagus to which a side of meat could be added. Curious for Americans.

They have a limited list of entrees, but the portions are large and the food is good. My wife was very impressed with the asparagus risotto with duck breast, and I had an excellent wiener schnitzel. The chocolate mousse we had for desert was the only disappointing aspect of the meal.

They have an impressive wine list for a German restaurant, and the service was efficient and helpful. You could certainly do worse in Berlin.

“Fabulous restaurant with superb food”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

The lunch time menu is a little short but they try and cater for tourists and business people at a very good price. We had a superb meal which was served very quickly (but not too quickly) and the dessert was very light and tasty. The restaurant itself is very light and airy with lots of mirrors and quirky artefacts. Not far from the Brandeburg Gate. Will definitely visit again.

“incredibly bad restaurant”
Reviewed July 17, 2010

I was all excited about Habel Weinkultur, after reading that it had some nice refined cuisine, and decided to bring my wife one evening there. I expected a nice cosy place with very good food, but was very very very disappointed. First, it is not cheap. Second, the food is horrendous. Standard German dishes. Nothin with imagination, but not good either. Sofieneck does it much better for instance. I took a random dish with melted cheese, and they brought me a melted "rougette", which is basically a chees to melt you find in the cheapest supermarket. This was basically microwaved and sent to our table with two pieces of salad. The wines are far from being expectional, interesting or cheap. The decoration is just as good as the deco of a schlager show on MDR, meaning pathetic. I really have no words to precent people to go to Habel Weinkultur. Wasted my money.
