“First class hotel”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

An excellent hotel situated on the outskirts of the city centre. The hotel is very modern, clean and the staff are extremely courteous and helpful. Unfortunately there is only 1 restaurant within walking distance however the tram stop is outside the hotel and takes you into the centre of Berlin. All the transport system is excellent and good value for money.
We were travelling in a group of 10 friends and we were a little disappointed that the restaurant in the hotel would only permit us to dine on an evening if we were prepared to all chose the same dishes. They informed us that as all dishes are prepared to the highest standard it would take too long to prepare 10 individual ones. We decided this was not really acceptable and ate elsewhere.
The sky bar in the hotel is a must with excellent views across the whole of Berlin
On the whole a first class hotel and would certainly recommend this to others

My wife treated me to a weekend in Berlin for my birthday in April, complete surprise!

She arranged accomodation here for both of us for the 3 nights we stayed.

Situated on the far eastern side of Berlin, the Andels is new and pretty impressive. The only gripe we had was that the whirlpool in the Spa was out of action, but there is an impressive facility only yards away if you want a swim.

The main railway line runs around the outside of Berlin, much like the Peripherique road in Paris or the dreaded M25 around London. Despite being out of the city, you can go from one side to the other by rail in about 30 mins. There is a tram stop outside the hotel which will take you from Landesberger Allee (hotel) to the Alexanderplatz (TV tower) and onto the historic Hackeshcermarkt, both of which are superb.

The train from Schonefeld airport goes straight to Landsberger Allee, so superb links in and around the city.

The room we occupied looked out into a central courtyard and was quiet and relaxed. The room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Would happily stay there again and will be going back to Berlin again.

The hotel has a 14th floor bar overlooking the city with stunning views at night. A cocktail or 3 is highly recommended!

Breakfast consists of hot and cold menu items and were of high quality and I would be happy to recommend including this in the package.

All in, I would be very happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Try and get a high floor, courtyard facing room.

The hotel itself is really nice with clean and pleasant rooms, where you can even be lucky to get a decent view over the city. Only small thing, which counted a little on the down side for us was that my partner and I had ordered a room with a king size bed, but got a room with twin beds instead (most likely because we were two women). When we went down to the reception to correct the error, we got another, but smaller room with the large bed. Had we not seen the larger room, we would probably have been very happy with the room we ended in, but were wondering a little about the difference in size.

The breakfast buffet at the hotel is very, very good with lots of choice and open until 10, so it is possible to sleep in a bit.

The hotel is a little off center and it is too far to walk to Alexander Platz, even though my partner and I are fairly good walkers. A much better way to get around is to rent bicycles, but the hotel did unfortunately not have any left when we asked for them. You should therefore most likely book them ahead - or spend the few extra euros to go to Alexander Platz by tram to pick one up (a lot of places around Alexander Platz have bikes for rent).

Overall a very pleasant stay.

Just returned from a 3 night break which included breakfast (very good). Excellent value, room on outside 3rd floor was fine. All members of staff that we encountered were very friendly. We had doubts about the distance from Alexander Platz & the centre but the trains/ trams/ buses are very good. We were a party of 2 couples and found that the Group ABC area ticket which you can get at any S Bahn station is excellent value at 4 Euro each. This enables you to travel all over the network in a day. This includes travel from Schoenfeld airport to and from the hotel (S9).
The bar on the top floor gives you a great view, though the cocktail prices are not cheap!

Having travelled widely throughout Germany and UK, I cansafely say that this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. ALL the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and all spoke very good English. The breakfast was to die for. Plenty of choice and served from 6.30-10.30 and till 1.30pm on Sunday so you could stay for as long as you wanted. The rooms were very nicely decorated, with mini bar and air conditioning (although the air conditioning wasn't that brilliant). There is a wellness spa and as a guest you can use the sauna/jacuzzi for not extra cost and they provide towel/slipper/gowns. One this to be aware of though is the sauna area is nudist and you will find some people elsewhere in the area naked. Don't be put off that's how the Germans do things - it can be a bit unnerving though. Just use the jacuzzi area as normal (clothed). There are excellent travel connections and there is an S-bahn and Metro right outside the hotel. A 5 day unlimited travel card is about 38 Euros and well worth it because the travel system is second to none. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Room Tip: A room on the back of the building might be better as the front is on a very busy road. That said...

I would never go back to Berlin again but I would stay in an Andel Hotel anywhere. It was the best part of all of Berlin. From the moment you land in Berlin at Tegel you realize you are in a second or third rate city. The airport is a disaster and the city is not clean. Tegel should be blown up but this hotel is an oasis in the dirt, messy, and disrespectful people of Berlin. The hotel is lovely and the people are wonderful. The breakfast is unbelievable. but find an Andel Hotel in some other place and avoid the mess, dysfunctional, and rude city and people of Berlin.

Room Tip: no bad room but stay away from Berlin all together.

I decided on this hotel as it was a little way out from the city & was very well priced. It didnt disappoint. Very nice decor & large room. Bathroom was fantastic. The breakfast was big & yum (you choose what you want from a good list of options) its $10EU but its delivered to your room by room service dead on the time you request. Room was quiet, bed was comfy, air con worked very well.
