Description: Bieberbau at Durlacher Str. 15 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf is part of a former studio and dwelling house. Built 1893/94 by Wilhelm Walther for the sculptuor Richard Bieber, it was nearly completely destroyed by a firebomb during World War II. Only the rooms and decoration of what is now the restaurant survived. The stucco ornamentation you can admire here have been created by the most advanced students and trainedcraftsmen of the principal and owner. He maintained a plasterer's and sculptuor's studio. The decorations depict different motives from mythology and rural life. They show advanced technical skills. The premises in their organic design provide an insight into the stuccateurs' craftmenship unique for Berlin around the turn of the twentieth century. They offer a unique spatial experience the qualitiy and complexitiy of which were out of the ordinary. In the backyard of the house there were several studios, amongst others those of the expressionist work group ,,Die Brücke" (,,The Bridge"). Between 1910 and 1913 Max Pechstein and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner worked here.

I really enjoyed our dinner here. The food was absolutely delicious - there is a choice of two menus - both were good. My husband got one and I got the other. All the dishes were well presented and very tasty. The salmon I got was particularly delicious.

The restaurant itself is also very charming and pretty with interesting sculptures/frescoes all over. Very interesting.

My only negative is that the service, while very friendly, is extremely slow. We were not the only table who waited for more than 15 minutes to even get a drink. And they were so slow, we didn't get the little amuse bouche that all the other tables seemed to get. Not a big deal but a bit disappointing.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant - just don't be in a hurry. It's off the tourist trail a bit but not too far away. An 8 EUR taxi from the Zoo area - you can also take the U-bahn if you want but you'd still have to walk a bit to get there. Well worth the trip.

Out to dinner with business associates. Great atmosphere. Not were the dining choices from appetizers to desert delicious but they were artistically presented. Truly a gastronomic experience which you will not want to miss. Perfect portion size of all dishes. It was almost a shame to eat the artistic dining choices that the chef should be commended. A 5 star restaurant in any country. The service was excellent.

Enjoyed a lovely meal at this comfortable restaurant in what, I think, is quite off the tourist trail. Very easy to reach and only a few minutes walk from a U-Bahn station. In the end only took the 3 course menu option and you could switch/mix the 2 set menus. Fantastic food, beautifully prepared with charming, helpful yet discrete service. Would recommend
