“Real good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2011

If you look for a good restaurant in Berlin Schöneberg try the Renger-Patzsch. You better reserve a table beforehand as it is often 'fully booked'. Food is very good, seasonal and regional special dishes. They are still famous for their 'Tarte flambée'. Not really regional, but excellent nonetheless. A couple of very good wines are also on the menu.
In summer you can sit on the terrace for a nice outside dinner. As the area is rather quiet, no big traffic on the streets, you will spend a perfect evening.

“My Favorite Restaurant for Traditional German and Austrian Dishes in Berlin”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2011

To find an excellent Berlin restaurant that serves traditional German and Austrian dishes is not as easy as you might think. Those restaurants that do serve them often cater to a pre-war clientele that requires everything to be overcooked and soaked in butter or pork fat so that it slides down easily and won't chip the dentures. Occasionally, there is a place that fetishizes the experience in order to make you feel how deliberate and independent you can be to order a plate of blood sausage in the paralyzing Michelin starred dining room of a 5-star hotel. Renger-Patsch suffers none of these faults. Wiener Schnitzel is a common dish one finds even in stand-up street stands from Bohemia to Argentina, but Renger-Patsch serves the best I have ever tasted: pounded to the right tenderness without being too thin, with a breading fried at precisely the right termperature so that it forms a perfect crispy exterior without absorbing the grease, and served very hot at the table. The white asparagus are never parboiled and then steamed again for speed of preparation; they are peeled by hand and steamed from scratch for each order so that they are perfect, and topped with the sweetest, most wonderful cooked ham I have tasted anywhere in Germany. Everything is as one would wish, if looking for traditional dishes cooked perfectly with the best ingredients and without the extreme profligacy of saturated fat from another century. The atmosphere manages to be both casual and elegant at the same time (go for the raw wooden tables in the main room instead of the smaller dining room in the back). The place is run by intellectuals and it shows in the sheer intelligence of their approach. I would recommend this place to anyone.

“Nice environment, casual, good food with value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2011

This was a very nice experience. Restaurant is located in very nice neighborhood and the athmoshphere in the restaurant was very bistro like. Friendly staff and service was ok. We took the menu with wines and it was worth it.

Evenhtough it is a bit away from the subwaystation and central places of the city, we recommennd to pay a visit.
