We booked the family apartment in The Circus Hotel because we read a super review in the New York Times; however, we hit Berlin in July during a heat wave (95 to 100 plus) and switched hotels after one miserable night. The Circus is clean and cute, but has no air conditioning and we could not open the windows due to construction noise and bad smells outside, (sewage/stale Chinese food from restaurant nearby) so I think this hotel is a good cold weather bet. (There were small but noisy fans in the bedrooms.) We went to the apartment- style Adina Hotel, and paid less and had AC, kitchen, washer/dryer, pool and great breakfast included.

This is the first hotel review I have bothered to write simply because most hotels we have stayed in to date are part of large chains..the client is a number among numbers.
The CIRCUS HOTEL BERLIN is certainly different. Staff are very pleasant [all of them], seem to really enjoy their work, great recommendations for tours and activities in the city. Very well located beside public transport. Great shops nearby [not department stores] . Food in hotel excellent particularly breakfast.Cant wait to return! G & M Ireland

We stayed at the Circus Hotel in June for 3 days during a 10 day trip in Central Europe. The hotel is perfect for couples and for groups of friends. We stayed in a regular room that was plenty big for 2 people. The rooms are well decorated and very functional. The hotel does not have A/C but you can check out a fan at the desk.

Although our room was not ready when we got to the hotel they locked our bags up for us and we were on our way. Some great amenities that are offered is the metro pass that you can rent from them, a lot cheaper then if you bought them on your own as they buy several for the entire month at a discount and they have free internet. I highly recommend this hotel. It is one of the best I have stayed at in Europe and for the value it cannot be beat.

Stayed in the hotel for one night. Was very friendly and comfortable - although I my friends who were on the road side said it was noisy. This was only a problem as the hotel is an eco hotel and so doesn't have air con (meaning you have to have the window open). I was on the courtyard side in a single room with velux windows and found it quiet .

The staff were all really friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was also very good. We enjoyed the bar in the evening for a quiet drink and the free wifi was very handy.

We reserved our 2 rooms about 2 months before the trip -- good job we did as it is an extremely popular hotel and I don't think we would have got rooms if we had left it any later. We arrived quite late and Isabelle on reception couldn't have been more cheerful and helpful and checked us in quickly. My wife and I had a double economy which was an adequate size and very clean. The bathroom was sparkling clean and everything worked. Unfortunately, because of the location of our room (facing Rosenthaler Plz) we had to have the window closed all night to shut out the street noise, especially the trams. I would think that a room facing the courtyard would be fine.

Breakfast was excellent and well presented. Good value at 8 euros. Selection of delicious breads (baked on the premises), cold cuts, cheeses, eggs, cereals, fresh fruit salad, teas and coffee. Breakfast staff were efficient, pleasant and made us feel welcome.

The bar in the evening was not exactly busy (effect of the World Cup?) but the beer was good and service good. Shame about the music, though, very monotonous techno....

The location is excellent -- Rosethaler Platz U bahn station is right outside, tram M1 and M8 also. Easy walk down to the river and Museum Island.

In summary -- good value for money, great staff, nice clean rooms, good breakfast, central location. Would definitely go back.
