After the very good reviews here we went for a meal on a Thursday night. We were warned about the off-putting entrance but it was still pretty strange - persevere and you will get there.

They almost turned us away as it was full but we managed to get a table (it's popular so book ahead).

Service was great, in english, and the wine recommended was fantastic. The menu and food was really amazing, very posh, and satisfying even without meat. Even the cocktails were interesting.

It's not cheap, but it's worth the money for a top quality meal.

We found this place on TA and booked ahead before we left for Berlin on a city break. Yes, it's down that side alley - go right, then left - it's there!

Inside the decor was functional with a view straight into the open kitchen. The staff were young, friendly and spoke English. We started with the Vodka Rhubarb house cocktail, and the rest of the evening went swimmingly, with creative, tasty, filling and wonderful vegetarian food. Not a nut-roast in sight. It's also incredibly good value and won't break anyone's wallet - three course menu was €32 per head.

Afterwards we went down to the club and were entertained by the concert pianist Yuja Wang who played the nightclub after playing that evening at the Berlin Concert House. The music was sublime and totally unxpected, as Yuja played for a packed club.

To eat in this fabulous restaurant was one of the biggest highlights of our 4-day celebratory stay in Berlin.

The food was unusual and stunningly presented. We made sure we did not duplicate so between the two of us we had 3 courses, so 6 dishes to sample and all dishes were sensational. The combination of flavours that went to make any one of the dishes caused a taste explosion – so unusual and so delicious.

My only gripe was the price of the drinks – seeing just how cheap wine is in Berlin shops I do not think they can justify the markup that gives a 29 euro price tag for their cheapest bottle. Also they have not caught onto supplying free filtered water as does just about every restaurant in London now that customers have got fed up paying stupid prices for boring bottled water. Here it was 6 euros for a small bottle – not good.

However I would go again many times over for the food experience.

The dinner here was perfection. Creative, delicious, and with a very funny waiter. The place is kind of deconstructed and very chic, and is attached to one of the hottest clubs in the city, Cookies. Go for a late dinner and then hit the club - it's a great evening.

Finding our way to the restaurant door will be something we will talk about for years to come! The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Inventive vegetarian food at its best....not to be missed.
