In part due to the advancement of technology and it's use in places such as museums; sometimes this actually distracts from the essence of the place, it's importance to the people at that time and what is really represented. The place and the memories of the horrors that were brought about in 1961 when the wall was erected were more explicitly shown previously............still worth the time to visit though - it is really still excellent

We didn't go in the museums as we didn;t have that much time and thought that they were fairly pricey however the atmosphere and history was lovely. It was nice to see the US signs and the people dressed up. We also got 6 stamps in our passports for 5 euro which was a nice thing to keep. Well worth the visit.

I had not seen Checkpoint Charlie since 1978, which was the last time that I passed through it in uniform and on duty. This once formidable and almost fearsome place has become a side show to what is nothing more than a junction in the road. However for those who have never visited here before it may just mean something. The authentic British Army badges sold were the wrong colour and when I pointed this out to the man in the museum, he shrugged his shoulder. This is not a representation of a Cold War icon, but a tacky tourist venue.

Lots of history, with many movies made about/with this iconic site. Glad to get lots of pics. Should only take 20 minutes out of your vacation time.

Worth a walk to go and see this, been seen on many films but i was glad that i saw it myself. By keeping this preserved it helps you understand the history of the cold war and the tension there back in the day must of been insane. If in Berlin you need to take a visit.
