“A piece of modern history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013

Interesting place to visit that has the name of Checkpoint Carlie given by the Allies. I was impressed by the fact that this checkpoint was once in history, the main crossing point between the two Germany.
Near the place is the Haus am Checkpoint Charlie, a museum that well deserves a visit.

“Historical”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013 via mobile

A place which has been written about millions of times and which was the setting of hundreds of spy thrillers for almost over 40 years. I imagined it more impressive, bigger maybe. It's all in your head and when you hit reality.... it turns out to be a simple street with a cot. The clownery of taking pictures with west- and east hats and two guys in US soldier uniforms is certainly fun for kids and teenagers. But the real story isn't being told.

“A must see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

For all you veterans and history buffs, this is a must see. There's a wall nearby that explains a lot of history and the significance of this gate. There's a couple of guys posing as soldiers charging you to take a picture with them. I simply ignored these guys and took all the pictures I wanted (without them of course).

“Once tanks, these days tourists only :-)”

You can find Checkpoint Charlie on the crossroads of Friedrichstrasse and Zimmerstrasse. It still boasts an adjacent surviving section of the Wall. The Cold War signs still remain. Once there visit the Haus am Checkpoint Charlie - it's a museum full of a fascinating past.

“Not impressed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

I wish it was the real building. Instead, it's a completely fabricated structure. You will also find cheesy costumed soldiers you can take your picture with-for a fee. I wish there was more to it but not really. At least I can see that I have been there.
