While planning to attend a one-day business meeting in Hannover in February, a colleague and I decided to include Berlin in our plans before heading home. Found Schoene Heimat online and was thrilled to learn that Kit could a arrange an English-speaking cooking class that would accommodate multiple food intolerances, especially, no gluten, soy, eggs or chicken. We met Kit in the Winterfeldplatz Markt (outdoor farmer's market) on Saturday morning to purchase our ingredients, made a couple additional stops for other provisions (of course, some wine!!) then headed to her apartment to start chopping and cooking. The day started with a dreary rain, but then the skies cleared and we had a beautiful day. Kit's apartment has wonderfully high ceilings and big windows. It was a delightful day!! We made wild boar sausage (in casings and wrapped in cabbage leaves), root vegetable soup, a beautiful salad and topped everything off with chocolate pudding. We wrapped up the class having lunch with the food we just made -- all delicious (of course, we made it!). Highly recommend spending the day with Kit and learning Modern German Cooking.
