Pension Absolut offers very clean, exceptionally well-locatedand affordable accommodation for singles and groups. I had a fantastic stay of about 10 days in a single room. I travelled in winter and the room and bathrooms very warm and cozy, the amenities were fantastic and most importantly I felt very safe even when on my own. The pension is in a residential neighbourhood well connected by the S and U bahn, and with plenty of cool cafes, restaurants and bars within walking distance. The service was great and made my stay in Berlin very enjoyable.

We spent a long weekend here in Feburary, its was the perfect accommodation in the perfect location for our needs, only 200 merters from metro and rail link and to a shopping mall with supermarkets. The journey into central Berlin ( Mitte ) is only a few stops and took 10 to 15 mins. The appartments are in a quiet residential area within a regular appartment block and you get the sense of being part of the community which you wouldnt get staying in a hotel or B&B.
The appartment itself was large, clean and had everything you would wish for a short break where regular hotel facilities are not available ie kitchen utencils, crockery etc for organising your tea ,coffee and breakfast. There are numerous restaurants within easy walking distance and im sure the very helpful owner Fru Zimmerman could point you in the direction of your cuisine of choice. All in all this was one of the best appartments we have stayed in over the last few years where appartments are our accommodation of choise.
We would have absolutely no hesitation in recomending these appartments.

We stayed at Pension Absolut for 3 nights in a double room with a shared kitchen and bathroom. The check in process was pretty difficult as we arrived on a Sunday morning and the lady at the desk didn't speak any English. The room we stayed in was a small apartment around the corner from the reception with 2 other private rooms in it. The room was lovely, had a very comfortable bed and was very spacious. There was lots of natural light in the room and it just generally had a good feel about it. The bathroom and kitchen were really clean. The only negative is that the kitchen had no stove or oven, only a microwave and fridge. This was a little disappointing because we had booked on the premise that we could cook our own meals in the kitchen. But there were plenty of delicious, cheap places to eat nearby - especially the dumplings at Wok Show. The area was fantastic and had heaps of great cafes, bakeries, bars and shops to wander around. The closest u-bahn was only a 5 min walk away and it was very well connected to all the main sites and attractions.

Overall, we would definitely recommend staying at Pension Absolut!

Room Tip: The room we stayed in (no. 10) faced the courtyard of apartment 41A. I think rooms 8 & 9 would h...

Stayed at the apartment on Chorinerstraße, and loved every minute of it. Great location - walked up and down Kastienallee and the surrounding areas and was completely enchanted by Berlin. Fell upon the St. Lucia Weihnachtsmarkt and it was lovely. There's a supermarket and a bakery, plus a number of restaurants right on the corner, plus the neighborhood of Prenzlauerberg is filled with cafes, thrift shops and boutiques that are great! Wish I'd had more time to spend there.

The apartment is well fitted out (though the coffee-maker and hot water heater both needed a rinse); bed was big and comfy, the layout of the apartment is great, bathroom is roomy enough, and the decor is very cheerful. I love staying in apartments instead of hotels so I feel like I'm really experiencing the neighborhood, and this was ideal.

Keep in mind that when staying in an apartment you'll have to stop at the Pension first and get the keys, then travel to the apartment. The one I was in was only 1 stop away on the U-Bahn, so it was simple enough, but it does lengthen the "check-in" period.

The location is fabulous in that the neighborhood is amazing, but it's not overly close to West Berlin sites like Charlottenburg, etc., so you'll be traveling via public transport a bit. But it's cheap and easy, and if the weather's good, you can easily walk down Torstraße to Friedrichstraße and be at Unter den Linden in about 30 minutes (I did it in 45 degrees and still enjoyed it!). Also, the street running parallell to Torstraße just south is full of great galleries, worth a wander.

the pension was fully booked, but they also have apartment/s - what a fantastic way to immerse yourself in a city, and this was no exception. plus, with hostels being so damn expensive in europe, this is the way to go for around the same price for a couple with private ensuite!...an airy, immaculate 4th floor studio apartment (no lift so be prepared for a bit of a climb) with wifi and cable tv, simple ikea style decor, very big comfortable bed, 50 metres from a supermarket and 5 mins walk to the subway. lots of coffee shops and restaurants nearby in nice area just two stops from alexanderplatz. we collected the key after hours from the pension, then grabbed a cab to the apartment nearby. having never been to berlin before i thought it would be hard, but that little extra effort was worth the 3 days we spent there. and the owner (sorry, I forgot your name!) had provided us with a map. it was around 70 euro per night which was really terrific value. would definitely stay again. excellent
