“Nice selection of Beers, food avarage at most”
Reviewed May 11, 2012

The in house brewed beers are nice, though nothing special. The food was average, though: I had a wild boar roast, which was very dry, and the "cherry sauce" was just a standard brown sauce which had not the slightest hint of cherry. The dumplings which came with it were ok, but the red cabbage was more like "brown cabbage" and was not much better than from a can.
The apple strudel for dessert was very nice though, but could not make up for the botched main course.
The prices for the quality were also quite steep.

“Frankonian Cuisine at its Best”
Reviewed December 5, 2011

This restaurant has real local food. The quality is excellent and the food is truly authentic. Tafelspitz and Hochzeitsessen (Wedding Feast) are old recipes from the Rhoen Mountain region about 80 km (50 miles) north of Wuerzburg. They include beef boiled in a meat broth with homemade horse radish sauce. The Schweinshaxe (Pork Knuckle) is grilled crispy and has lots of lean meat under the crispy skin. The sauerbraten also is very good. The dumplings are made from scratch and the red cabbage is cooked exactly like my grandmother made it 50 years ago.

The beer is fresh and they have seasonable choices on tab. Right now they have what they call "Fest Bier" (Holiday Season Beer}. It is smooth and crisp. They have many choices and I have not found one I did not like.

The restaurant is bright and well ventilated. It is not stuffy, as so many restaurants are in Germany during the winter. The prices are very fair, especially considering the quality and also the quantity of the food.

“Excellent”
Reviewed November 2, 2011

I reside in Germany (Munich) and this is one of the best German restaurants I have eaten in. I have been here at least 4x. First, the beer is excellent and they have several varieties on tape. Second, the area is very roomy and bright w/o being overly so. Third, the food is excellent. Regardless of what I have ordered, it has always been first rate.

“Good Biergarten”
Reviewed August 4, 2008

Wurzburger Hofbrau makes excellent beer, be sure to try a few different brews when there. Prices are low compared with other restaurants in Wurzburg. The Schweinshaxe is amazing and at 9 Euros can't be beat. The outdoors biergarten is quite large and gets a good crowd on summer nights. No need for reservations this place is enormous.
