“Nice Hotel, some staff need a attitude change”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

Overall the hotel is nice. Some of the staff (restaurant) are outstanding and go out of their way to help you. However some of the front desk staff could use a attitude adjustment. The third time we stayed at the hotel we were greeted by a young girl that really didn't like her evening shift job. Remember it is a lot easier to keep a returning customer then to go looking for a new one. The room we had did not have air conditioning even though it had controls for it. We had to sleep with the windows open which allowed mosquitoes in during the night. This hotel seems to be geared to the business crowed (1 night stay) and the bus crowd. The hotel is close to all the sites, easy walk to the market place and some great resturants.

Room Tip: Rooms on east side a quieter.

This is a good solid hotel in the heart of Wurzburg. We stayed one night here as part of a bus tour group. The hotel is well located within 5 mins of the old town of Wurzburg. This hotel is old school. They are still using metal keys for the rooms and as other reviewers have noted; the lobby staff aren't the most friendly. They have wifi everywhere but it isn't free. You can buy a 24 hour credit for €4.50 at the lobby. Not the best hotel in the world.. but this property is all about location. It is a short walk to the heart of old town Wurzburg.

We stayed here with friends in September 2013. The hotel was selected for us by Riviera Travel as part of their guided tours. The rooms were clean and there was a good selection of food although we had to seek help in translating so we knew what we were eating. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Because it was very hot at the time we enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace for drinks which despite some of the reviews I have read were always available. The hotel is a short walk away from the centre of Wurzburg. Unfortunately the hotel is close to main roads so traffic noise is to be expected so room choice could be a problem particularly midweek. After our 1st night we did not find it too much of a problem.

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms overlooking the main road

The hotel is close to the Old Bridge and the Residenz. The public areas are very pleasant. One criticism is that the bar only opens in the evening so a late afternoon coffee or beer when you get back to the hotel is not possible. I did not find any suitable alternative nearby but I may not have looked well enough. The air conditioning is better described as a central air supply.
The room was OK in terms of size - certainly not the smallest Maritim room we have stayed in. The room was well equipped generally. Mini bar prices are comparable to the hotel bar - this means that the bar was expensive rather than the mini bar being cheap.
Both breakfast and dinner were buffet style and generally good. At breakfast the top up of bacon in particular was slow but this may have been due to another group staying at the hotel who did not stint themselves! - on one morning when they were not there all was well.
The two lower floors are served by a single lift floor marked "1 +2" on the lift buttons.
Its location makes this hotel well worth considering if you want to look at Old Wurzburg.
The staff were generally helpful and friendly. The charge for tap water described by another reviewer is apparently standard in German hotels.

My room was too small to swing a cat and so hot as there was no aircon. Some of our group had to ask for fans in their rooms. The food was very poor buffet sevice and we were charged for tap water. Not a place to stay again.

Nice central hotel in Würzburg. Unfortunately we stayed during summer and the nights were very warm. No air-conditioning in the rooms but only central air flow. You could open one window but that made it far too noisy with all the traffic so that was no option.
Big breakfast buffet with possibility to eat outside.
Walking distance from all important things to see in Würzburg.
No free WiFi which I find a big minor for such a big hotel these days!!!!!

Room Tip: Take a room at the back away from traffic.

Noticed from another review that a shower was faulty, this was identical to a couple in our group. That however was the one mark down on our visit, and did not involve us directly. Found the geography of the place a trifle confusing, when you use the lift to floor one, then have to go down some stairs, to the first floor rooms. The dinner provided was good to fair, and the breakfast good. No particular problems for ourselves, and we enjoyed our stay. Felt tempted to help ourselves to a pre-breakfast coffee from a conference lay out, but being British we walked past. Our short tour stay did not allow much time for looking around the town etc.
