I've been to many castles and palaces but none as over the top as this, even Versailles. It's a masterpiece of baroque splendor. Worth seeing for the building as there are few furnishings. Pretty garden but don't go our of your way for the garden only.

Yes it should be the number one destination for you to go and whispered. You do need a guide . The history and how it was made especially interesting. No pictures allowed inside check out Google for other photos. Outside your hands are also very well done. And free!

The Residenz is Versailles on a smaller scale. Photos aren't allowed inside but it's really elegant inside. There was quite a bit of damage to it during WWII but it's been restored. Artwork & furniture had been safely stored during the war so there is a lot of originality to the place.

Beautiful palace with so much to look at & take in. We spent just as long in the gardens. It was a shame the wine cellars were closed the day we went ( think they are only open at weekends)

How beautiful is this Baroque palace, built for the prince-bishops. It’s one of the largest in Germany and is surrounded by gorgeous gardens - what’s with the lawns, though? Well worth a look is the Court Chapel, which can be accessed from the residence courtyard - ridiculously ornate!
