A stone bridge with several statues, that brings in mind Prague's famous bridge in a smaller scale.Erected in place of an old Roman bridge in 1473, it was fully completed in 1703. The statues were added around 1730. Up to 1886 Alte Mainbrücke (Old Main Bridge) was the only river crossing in Würzburg. It's the oldest bridge over Main river. In the summer of 2010, this bridge served as a filming location for the adventure film "The Three Musketeers". Always full, especially with tourists, it's a perfect spot to watch busy Main River - Small boats, big cruise ships, seagulls, ducks.....you may stand there and enjoy the traffic and the wonderful view around. Old town buildings and Churches and spectacular Marienberg Fortress on the hill, vineyards, etc.etc. There are bars next to the bridge and if you don't want to sit down there, just take your wine, beer or juice (in a glass not in plastic!) and enjoy the unique view. The taste will be quite different!!!
