I had three dishes at Eisenhut which all tasted very nice. The food would get 4 stars, but because the waitress was constantly coughing whilst bringing the food and taking the plates I would not give more than 3 stars. She would cough directly in her hands and straight after touch the plates and cutlery. Extremely unhygienic. I think it's highly unprofessional that a person that is obviously ill is allowed to serve food to guests.

We went here without reservations in October. The town was not busy, so I gave it a try. The hostess had to "check" to see if we could get in. When we were seated, we noticed there were only 4 other diners in the entire place! Well, the food was delicious. Our waiter was ok. The price was high!

What can one say about a 3-course meal, finely crafted, prepared, and presented for 20 Euro, with wine pairing for each course for an additional 15 Euro? Magnificent, is what we said after spending a quiet evening in Hotel Eisenhut's restaurant. Although we were the only customers in the restaurant for most of the evening--the meal lasted nearly 2 hours when we left about 2200--both the kitchen and waitstaff were spot on in their attention to detail and quality of product. The hotel and restaurant appear to be dedicated to providing a high quality experience that starts with an inviting dining room setting, a very attentive and hospitable waitstaff, and an excellent kitchen.
Restaurant Eisenhut offers a "small" 3-course or larger 4- and 5-course set menus. If we had been aware of the expanded menu and course offerings, we may not have indulged ourselves in a "typical" German lunch before heading to there at about 2000. Before we were served the first course, the kitchen offered us a small appetizer of fresh cream turnip soup. The only word that comes to mind is wonderful. The 3-course menu that followed consisted of an in-season pumpkin-ginger soup topped with a foam and reduction that both enhanced the flavor profile of the soup. This was paired with a local (Wurzburg region) silvaner which was just trocken enough to make the course great. We enjoyed the remainder of the silvaner as the entree was being prepared and before a halb-trocken blend of spatburgunder (pinot noir) was served. This wine, also a local product, was paired with two schweine medallions. The meat was just pink in the middle making it juicy, flavorful, and so tender that one didn't need to use a knife. The protein was complemented with a medley of in season vegetables, cooked to the perfect texture. Our last course was a panna cotta, paired with a sweet wine which was a blend of Chardonnay and muscatel, and finished off the meal. The panna cotta was creamy, surrounded by an array of fresh fruit slices, and just sweet enough to be complemented by the desert wine.
We've had a few memorable meals in the past few months in the country. The meal we experienced at Restaurant Eisenhut will be in the top 3, and wish that Rothenburg o.d. Tauber wasn't a 4 hour train journey from our flat. Highly recommended.

We celebrated here my partner's birthday. They were so good to us: the meals like fine-art work, top cuisine, amazing athmosphere. They made for us a cake with text I requested previously. Highly recommended to everybody who wishes to have a very romantic dinner.

After a week in Germany it was a joy to find this restaurant, so much so that we ate here twice. The food is imaginative (i.e. cod with ginger and a banana and tomato accompaniment) and there are lighter options available. More expensive than other restaurants in Rothenburg but, by Australian standards, still very reasonable. (Meal for two, two courses, beer and wine cost us about 60 euros) The service was excellent. All this in a spacious, elegant dining room. Loved it!
