“Stop for lunch”
Reviewed July 20, 2012

We did not stay here but stopped for lunch whilst on a bike ride from Rothenburg. The outdoor area was pleasant on a hot day. They had the best salad I have even eaten, fresh, unusual and the best dressing. Wish I could remember the name. It was reasonably priced and even had toasted ham and cheese sandwiches - which pleased our kids. One of the nicest lunches we had - I think the atmosphere - lovely waitress patiently listening to our kids ordering in their basic german - made it a great experience.

We weren't exactly sure where this was located, but it was definitely worth the short drive outside of Rothenburg. It is a step back in time of old Germany. The accommodations were fantastic, the breakfast was wonderful and the quiet area was so appreciated. There are several sitting areas to enjoy with family and friends to chat and relax. The rooms were spacious and the views were beautiful. We traveled by car with senior parents and they loved it as well!

Room Tip: We had our 18 year old daughter with us in the same room but the bathroom divided for quiet a bit of...

This hotel is outside Rothenburg but within strolling distance as long as steeply sloping path can be managed. It is typical family owned hotel in that the staff are welcoming and very helpful. Our room was clean, well lit & furnished. It was accessed via a large, comfortable lounge. There is a veranda along the front of the building which is pleasant both to enjoy a drink or meal. The buffet breakfast buffet is well up to expected standard and the restaurant offers a good choice of good value meals. Parking is available opposite the building or in the courtyard.

We had a two night stay at this hotel while visiting Rothenburg and it was fantastic. We were in the annexe and had spacious rooms that had been recently renovated; very comfortable beds; good showers and a quiet location. The food was really good, lovely breakfasts and beautifully cooked evening meals on the terrace served by smiling, happy staff most of whome were happy to speak English. Rothenburg is very close, but it was nice to get away from the coach parties into a peaceful, relaxing environment after sight-seeing. Very highly recommended. We hope to go back some time.

Room Tip: Rooms in the annexe are superb and very quiet.

Very good and quiet place to stay, away from the historic center of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, but still close enough. Take into account a climbing walk of + - 10 minutes to the center of Rothenburg, but this was no objection (we were on vacation and not a race).

Easily accessible by car (located on the Romantische Strasse) and free parking.
Traditional rustic rooms and dining area. Free WiFi in the room.
Good breakfast buffet with enough choice of breads, meats, fruit, soft boiled and scrambled eggs, ...
I would recommend this hotel for a citytrip to Rothenburg ob der Tauber or a passage to Tirol via the Romantische Strasse.

The room was spacious, the bed was comfy, and it was so, so clean! The staff cooks in the restaurant on the ground floor and wow, they do a fantatic job! The front desk staff speaks English and they're extremely helpful and sweet. If you want Internet, ask for the password at the desk.

It's not a long drive to Rothenberg, maybe 2 minutes. You do have to pay for parking outside the walls. If you want to leave your car at the hotel (they have a free, dedicated lot), there's a trail (uphill) that leads to the city and takes about 15-20 minutes to walk if you're in good shape.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the lot are a little loud if there are kids outside.

I was looking for a hotel outside the city where I could walk around the nature and found the Gasthof Schwarzes Lamm, a retro-styled Hotel just outside Rothenburg in a small village called Detwang. It was possible to reach the city in a few minutes by foot across a path wich offered a great view but also to walk around the beautiful landscape that surrounds it. There are alot of animals nearby, like those Alpaca sheeps, a few hundred meters away. The Tauber River and a really old Church add to the idyllic scenery.

The rooms are clean and the furniture is completely made of wood. Even though I prefer a more modern style, I didnt miss anything - they got TV's and even W-LAN.

The most positive aspects was their food and the service. From the chats I had with the Hotel Staff, I learned that they make the meals all by themselves.

Just dont expect adventure or huge landmarks...thats what Rothenburg is there for. The Hotel is about nature and leisure.
