Very nice hotel and the people who worked there. Our room was very spacious and loved the modern bathroom. The hotel is about 150 years old and we felt very mysterious there... The town is very romantic and beautiful that can not be missed in Romantic Road tour...

We only had 1 night in this hotel as part of a tour we were doing of the Romantic Road, and I wish we could have stayed longer! Rothenburg was one of our favourite places on our holiday and this hotel was so authentic and had all the charm you would expect. The hosts are so lovely and funny! Rooms are great, very spacious and we had a huge bathroom and enormous shower. Breakfast was simply amazing, so much food and a great range! I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Rothenburg!

Although my experience is over 2 years old - (I just got on TA to write) I had to mention this special and charming place. Magical, medieval feel, comfortable rooms, the proprietor made our stay most special. We were a family of 5 (3 chinese and 2 Indian) from hong Kong and he owner was perplexed when he saw our mixed family - next morning I found out why - when he serves breakfast (its a beautiful buffet spread - ham, cheese, homemade bread & jams, juices a real assortment) on each table he likes to add a special dish which is a fusion of Germany with the country of his guest - so he was perplexed as he had to mix two cultures/cuisines. he delighted us 3 days with 3 different fusion dishes (one was a saffron soup with chicken, once was a pie but with cahr s=iu filling & cucumber spicy salad ) simply delightful - innovative & creative way to make guests feel welcome. and he wakes up at 6 am to prepare all this. The next table had a English couple and they got a different dish combining their culture.

We were there in May when the whole town has a medieval festival so they have a 3 day holiday and the whole town dresses up like the old days (300-400 years ago) there is role playing, a parade, trials, singing its just an absolute delight - what a co-incidence it was the sam e3 days that we were there.

The whole town has magical fairy tale kind of feel - and of course some of the best beer around...thre are some lovely restaurants & pubs around.

This oldest preserved town in Germany is a not miss on your visit. Staying over night really gave us plenty of time to explore. This hotel is as authentic as the rest of the town. Our room was very spacious and loved the modern bathroom. Great big tub for a comfortable soak. Not a full time front desk so a little difficult to communicate at times. Breakfast was awesome, fresh and cooked to request. Easy location to get around the village. We got located here as part of a tour package along the Romantic road. Possibly we got an upgraded room compared to other reviews because space was not an issue.

The hotel was in a great location and the owner was very friendly. He gave us great recommendations and even made us breakfast 2 1/2 hours early so we could catch out train before 6 am. The breakfast was wonderful! The only drawback was no Internet but we didn't really miss not having it.

I loved this hotel.
+ Small, cozy, homey. I liked the atmosphere of the hotel.
+ Antique furniture in the rooms gives the hotel a special charm.
+ Lovely hotel owner. He was very friendly and courteous. I felt at home.
+ Lovely hearty breakfast. Lots of cheese and slicing. Fresh and tasty bread.

- My room was small. * but very cozy.
- The shower was really not very big.
- The bathroom was dark and little free space.
* But the atmosphere of the hotel left a good impression. These small flaws have left no negative emotions.

I really liked this hotel and the town of Rothenburg. I will definitely be back again.

To get to the hotel involves driving through 13th Century streets in what looks like a pedestrian zone, but cars do drive within the old city walls. The drive is worth it and the welcome from the owner was as good as it gets. We were shown the parking area behind the hotel then given a street map, shown our room and set off to see the sights. The room we had was at the top of the stairs and was well equipped and furnished in antiques, really what we wanted when staying in such an historic town. Breakfast is wonderful with a vast selection of meats and cheeses along with coffee, tea etc. The owner is so nice and serves breakfast along with the staff. We really wanted to stay but could not....

Room Tip: Top floor rooms are quaint with some views to the city.
