We spent here one night as part of a trip through Germanys romantic route. This little town is amazing and so is this hotel. Furnishing and everything was resemblant of small town traditional germany, though everthing was really clean and well kept. Our room had a view to the street which featured small stores and cafes. Just two blocks from the main platz its location is great. Service was very good and breakfas was really nice to.

We thoroughly enjoyed another stay at the Hotel Cafe Uhl. Clean, comfortable room. Excellent breakfast buffet. I tried their Windbeutel pastry which was delicious. Great location. A superb hotel value in Rothenburg.

Very clean and warm room. Hotel owner Robert, was very polite, helpful and friendly. Very close to the center. Breakfast was very good and fresh but the variety was limited!!The old man in the hotel was staring at us while we were eating our breakfast...maybe because we filled our dishes twice...but we ignored him and we enjoyed our meal!!!!! ;-p

Room Tip: There is no elevator. Although the loft had a great view, it was not so comfortable!!

The Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was right at the top and, since there is no elevator, it was a bit hard to lug bags right to the top. The room was clean and comfortable. The café sells wonderful food and the breakfast the next morning was plentiful and filling. The hotel is in a great location right in the middle of town so it was easy to walk around and we really enjoyed our time in this very historic town. The only small complaint I would have is that a storm came over during the night and one of the staff came into the room to check if the window was closed so that no rain could come in. I found this a little invasive, but this is the only complaint I had about our stay. Rothenburg ob der Tauber is very beautiful.

I agree with many of the comments above. the hotels location is prime and the gentleman Robert at the front was lovely. The pastery cafe is also a treat. We unfortunately had a street facing room- terribly loud with pedestrians and vehicukar traffic over cobblestones. We reserved the family suite indicating 4 people. We were met with a 10x15 room with dated furnishing and 4 single beds crammed in. The bathroom was barely big enough to turn around. Honestly, it was clean and should be expected from a building in those times. If theyknocked it down to make a fancy 5-star resort, this place wouldnt be worth coming to. But if youre looking for romantic, quiet and or updated- stay away.

Okay so this place is a typical German gasthaus (small room, dated, no elevator). It was however, clean and the staff were very friendly. We had a very quick check in and were able to park our car in the hotel's garage. We asked for a room on the back side of the hotel per ta recommendations and had a nice view. Breakfast was adequate but not extensive. I was concerned about the distance to the Xmas markt but you are inside the city wall and have a quick 5 min walk to the markt platz.

First, the good things: Hotel Uhl is in a great location inside the walled city of Rothenburg ODT, and the place itself is quite charming. Don't expect all the modern niceties you might get from a luxury hotel, but that's clearly not the idea here: you're in Rothenburg after all. We liked the hotel itself very much.

Now, the bad things: We reserved a room online, which was identified as a double room with a double bed. We got a double room with two single twin beds. Not very romantic for a romantic getaway (we made the best of it). Turns out the fine print "special requests" (of which our double bed apparently was one, unbeknowest to us) are subject to availability, and there was not additional availability, so we got stuck. We were offered an upgrade to a triple room for a substantial cost increase, but this was not offered as a complementary upgrade. Anyway, definitely a bummer. The other issue was that the hotel wifi was basically useless the entire time we were there. The fact that they offered wifi was one of the considerations in choosing the place, so also a let-down. Finally, the breakfast that was included in the room rate was mediocre at best. Although the hotel offers a nice cafe with a large selection of pastries, only a couple options are offered as complementary breakfast to the hotel guests, which was somewhat strange.

In any case, I'd recommend Hotel Uhl for its good location, reasonable prices, and charming old-world atmosphere, but make sure you read the fine print and call ahead to double check things.

Room Tip: Call ahead to make sure you get the room you actually want. The online reservation form doesn't...
