We wanted to find a place to stay within the Rothenburg walls that could accommodate our family of four - and one that wouldn't be outrageously expensive. Guesthouse Raidel was a perfect fit.
Our quad room was two rooms connected by a door. One bedroom had a shower and ensuite bathroom - the other bedroom had only the sink and shower. Very kid friendly, with the kids in one room and the parents in the other.
But keep in mind that this is a guesthouse - there's no elevator/lift so you'll be carrying your bags up stairs. Shared bathrooms are down the hall. Don't worry about any language issues - everyone in Rothenburg can speak English. Breakfast is included.
The location is terrific - close to everything, yet nice and quiet away from the crowds. It's a very short walk to the Market Square or the Plonlein (Little Square). Very easy to find.
While we could have stayed outside Rothenburg for cheaper and day-tripped it, staying within the town itself was worth every Euro. While Rothenburg can get crowded and over-run during the day with tour groups, you'll have the gorgeous town almost to yourself in the morning, late afternoon, and evening.More
