We stayed at the Raidel Gueshouse many years ago, Mrs Raidel became a friend and we spent hours talking in a mixture of german, english and romanian - quite an effort but our hands came in handy too. The guesthouse is average but it has become one of the highlights of our life, Rothenburg is a step back in time and the many toyshops are enchanting.
We also met Mrs Raidel's son and would recommend this place to anyone. Many many fond memories.

I was with my wife and two grandkids on this visit. This bed & breakfast is rustic, interesting, reasonably priced, inside the Rotenburg wall, clean and has a nice breakfast. Mr. Raidel finds a free parking place for you beside the town wall. It appears that Mr. Raidel runs it himself including preparing and serving the breakfast. On this last visit he provided me with free internet service, however, the internet time was limited and this limited time was divided among all the guests. Thus, the first password he gave me produced the message that all the time had been used up, so I asked for and received another password, which worked. I always enjoy staying here, but I can't rate it a 5 because some of the others I stay in are much nicer. There are limitations because the building structure is so old. But it is, after all, Rotenburg. All of us enjoyed our stay here and I'll stay here again if occation arises.

Room Tip: The 2 floor (1st floor in Germany) is good because there is a common balcony from which you can get...

Hotel Raidel is a fun and interesting place to stay. It is OLD and not very quiet, especially on the street side, but it was clean enough and had a nice breakfast. This is not the updated ultra-modern hotel but it has bunches of character and is very handy. It's a quick walk from the train station and to the main square. Herr Raidel is a nice man who is helpful and kind. This is an affordable hotel. We had a triple room that ended up having 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. If you're on a budget and like something old with character, Hotel Raidel is the place to go.

Room Tip: Budget minded. Ensuite bathrooms.

The Pension was very close to the town centre and in the corner there's a very cute handcraft shop. The room had stylish furnitures and was very clean. The breakfast room was charming and the breakfast itself was traditional.

This reasonably priced guest house is approx 500 years old. While the rooms are simple, they are also beautiful. They have the houses original wooden beams in the ceiling, quirky angles, beautiful old furniture, great breakfast and lovely host. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting something more intimte and personal when compared to big hotels.

There is no question that Gästehaus Raidel is relatively basic accomodation, but it was a delightfully charming experience to stay there. The hotel has not been modernised and feels like it has been the same for the last hundred years.

Mr Raidel was a good host, meeting us and answering any questions, and then serving a very nice reakfast the next morning. The room itself was very old world German cute - we slept well in the double bedroom on the second floor at the back.

The location itself, I think, is one of the best in town. Make sure you wander the streets, walk the walls, get out into the valley below the town. This is a really special part of the world and Hotel Raidel was a great base to explore it from.

We weren't sure in relation to the hotel was the center of town, but we were happy to find that it wasn't even a ten minute walk from the hotel to the center of the town. A charming place, we were greeted by the owner, Mr. Raidel. He was very welcoming, along with much older cat - a happy surprise. No worries, (for those with allergies) this cat stays in his office and can hardly get around anymore. He showed us to our room and gave us keys to get in our room and the building, showed us where breakfast was served (he doesn't serve lunch or dinner). Our room was spacious, clean and inviting. There was no TV, frig or microwave, but we never missed it. We put some of our bottle drinks on the window ledge and ate our other meals elsewhere. The bathroom was nice, it had the necessities, toilet, shower, sink, towels, etc. We opened the window in the bathroom and could actually reach over to the wall over the building next door - too cool! Early in the morning we could hear the pigeons cooing while tucked under the eaves of the roof, staying dry from the rain. Don't know if was all the site seeing, but it was some of the best sleep I had ever gotten. For the two of us, we paid €69 per night - cash only, no credit cards. I the owner tell another guest that he would even accept American dollars! The breakfast was the traditional German continental breakfast - bread, lunch meats, boiled eggs, cakes, fruit, juices and coffee. All of our favorites! I was sad to leave, but we brought home some really great memories.

Room Tip: If you don't ask, you might get a room that you share a bathroom with other guest on the floor...
