Rothenburg and the Night Watchman's tour were one of the top highlights of our two weeks in Europe. I needed a room for myself and my two grown sons; this little hotel was able to accommodate us with a nice king (two twins together)/twin room, facing the street. My friend stayed in a single room that faced the valley. If you can request a room that does not face the street, you will have a fantastic view and avoid the traffic noise in the morning (though only a tiny street, the sound bounces off the buildings as each single car passes). The owner was kind and tries hard to serve his guests; he apologized profusely when the credit card machine broke and we needed to walk up the street for cash. We didn't mind - it was another chance to enjoy the wonderful town before leaving. We found the prices in Rothenburg to be surprisingly reasonable and the people extremely welcoming. Skip the Rhine Valley and head to Rothenburg! Stay inside the walls - you probably cannot get a bad place to stay in the entire town.
