We stayed here in August during a heat wave. Like most of Germany, it has no air conditioning. We were in room 14 which has wonderful windows so of course in the heat we left them open. At midnight we awoke to what we thought was rain. In reality our room was filled with a dozen or so bats! The host got rid of them after some comical effort; he was great throughout. Being that close to the covered part of the city wall I think caused the bats to try and roost in the room. Bottom line: keep the windows shut!

We enjoyed our stay at hotel hornburg. The host and hostess were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was very filled with character and charm. The location, just outside the walls of the old town, was excellent for easy access to the old town without having to drive in it. This makes for a pleasant break from the congestion which can occur in the old town. Our suggestion to traveller who will be staying at the hotel is (don't forget to play with Buddy).

Excellent hotel, perhaps too nice for a two night stop. We had a large room with a lounge area and a verandah. Very professionally run hotel but also very friendly. The breakfast was also very good and the boiled eggs served with humour as they had a face drawn on them. The position of the hotel is superb just outside the walls. Rothenburg is a lovely place to stop off, quite unique. I would recommend staying here if visiting this area.

We stopped for a couple of nights at this gorgeous hotel on our way back from Switzerland and were delighted with our spacious room, the lovely breakfast and the proximity to the medieval city. We wanted an adjacent car park and that was fine too. Will definitely return...

Loads of ambience, wonderful staff, spacious rooms, free parking - all within cooee of the formidable walls of medieval Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The breakfast was excellent and 'Buddy' the dog a delight! Lovely stay!

Thoroughly enjoyed a two night stay at this hotel back in April. We had a rental car and despite a bit of a mixup with the hotel address via our GPS, we finally found the hotel just outside the hotel walls. Thank goodness we had the hotel directions from our email confirmation!

There is a public parking lot between the hotel and the walls. Upon entering the public lot, simply drive to the last section and parking will be free (double check which days with the hotel staff). It's a very short walk to the hotel.

The hotel is adorable! Pretty little gardens, nicely appointed breakfast room and a small lounge with computer and self serve beverages up on the first floor.

Our room was on the first floor right off the reception and next to the breakfast room. We were initially concerned about noise, but the walls are thick this wasn't a concern at all. Our room had twin beds and sectional sofa. Very spacious for Europe.

The bathroom struck us as odd . . .because this is an old house the bathroom was built out into the room. Visually a bit odd as the ceiling of the bathroom didn't extend to the ceiling of the room. Course, this didn't impact the use of the bathroom (and yes, the BR had a closed ceiling!)

Basic toiletries were provided but recommend bringing your own as I never found hair conditioner anywhere in Germany. Also, if you use a washcloth, you'll need to bring that as well.

Overall, great location to explore the city.

Very cosy and friendly hotel. Also comfortable for families.Near to the parking area.(3 euros per week) and to the city walls. The breakfast was very good and qualitative.I think if someone wants to do the round of Bavaria this is the best location.
