My husband and I recently chose the Burghotel due to it's excellent location inside the city walls and raving reviews on tripadvisor. We were moving to the area for his work and although we initially made a reservation for just a few days, ended up staying almost two months at the hotel because we loved it so much!

The Bergers, Gabriele and Otto, are incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful people. We were so happy to greet them each day and chat. Breakfast was always a delight; the breakfast room has an incredible view of the Tauber valley! Our room was much larger than we would expect from a European hotel with a sitting area and large bathroom and it was cleaned impeccably every day. And the hotel's location is just a short walk to any of Rothenburg's restaurants, shops and museums. Parking for us was never a problem because there are some public lots nearby in addition to a few spots in front of the hotel. A few times, Otto even moved his own personal vehicle so we could park!

We've stayed at a few other hotels in Rothenburg, but I can honestly say that the Burghotel is the best; I've been recommending it to all our friends and family who come to visit!

Located on the city walls, marvelous outlook over the valley and river. If you are not fortunate enough to pay for a room with this view (you should) , make sure you get down to the breakfast room early to get a window table. The hotel has had some renovations since our last stay so a nice blend of contemporary modern amenities i.e. wifi, modern bathrooms, etc with their great period pieces of furniture that is abundant throughout their historic hotel. The family who manages this continue to be great hosts, taking everything in their stride, greeting guests every morning, and leading a great staff who are very punctual with their housekeeping. Hotel well situated to the Cathedral and other sites of the Rotherburg town.

We (3 persons) lived in the Family-Suite of Burghotel. Everything was first class:
-the site of the hotel: romantic and quiet
-the room
-the friendly personal
-the breakfast room with the wonderful view
-the "gemütliche" breakfast table
-the breakfast

We will come again

This hotel "on the wall" is amazing - comfortable - has a good wine selection in the library and is made to be the best place to stay in Rothenburg by its staff. Our one night stay was great - highly recommended.

Room Tip: We has the 2-room "suite" downstairs with direct access to "the wall" and a view...

Jaw dropping room and view!! We were lucky and got in on a special they were running on rooms with a view of the valley and man were we lucky. We got to stay in the Bavaria Suite which was built right into the town wall and the views were stunning. I can't not rant and rave highly enough to convey how pleased we were with this room and hotel. The breakfast was superb and the bed so beautiful and cozy. It had a lovely sitting area and huge bathroom. My husband and I loved this town and hotel so much we debated cancelling another part of our trip to stay here longer. The town itself is so magical and like a fairytale (mind you we stayed here in the off season so it was not very busy but I could see if it were very busy that it could detract from the magic). If you are thinking about staying here do it!! I usually go for the cheapest pleaces so I can splurge more on other things like food but this hotel isn't much more than some of the surrounding hotels and is worth every cent spent.

Room Tip: Bavaria suite or any other room with a view over the wall is worth the extra money spent!!

We chose the Burghotel after reading all the reviews on Trip Advisor.
We were not sorry. There is nothing not to like. It is utterly charming. We stayed for two nights
and had the room on the top floor which was huge. It almost felt like an apartment with views to die for.
The location is brilliant and the staff attentive and helpful. Otto was always at the front desk waiting to greet us with a big smile and engage in conversation. He was such good value.
The breakfast room has postcard views and the breakfasts were great .Everything was so fresh. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

The hotel is charming is every aspect. We stayed in a large room, with a sight of the garden, canopied bed and an old-fashioned, pleasant bathtub. The breakfast is very good. There are no elevators, but the staff helps to carry luggage upstairs.
The hotel lies about ten minutes from the town center, plus some other ten minutes to the stop of the Romantic Road bus. It is almost embedded in the city wall, and you just have to go through a gate outside, to be in the city gardens. The Imperial Museum is also its neighbor.
