“Lunch on the Terrace Facing St James Church”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

This restaurant has a lovely terrace garden over-looking the apse of St James Church. The food was surprising tasty for a hotel restaurant and we enjoyed a delicious meal of maultaschen soup, chanterelle mushroom soup, and a plate of three types for sausages (all good). The view was lovely and the tree-shaded terrace is raised high above the street and tourists below.

“A wonderful setting and good food.”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

We had afternoon tea and one evening meal here and both were lovely. It is on the pricier side but the central location - just by St Jacob's Church - justifies a small premiium

“Bustling popular restaurant”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

Attractive traditional setting it was nice to have the option of sitting outside on the terrace or inside with doors open to the terrace. Good service despite business. The food was simple and tasty.

“The BEST meal we had in 3 weeks in Europe.”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

We stumbled onto this because the location looked inviting, under the trees, beautiful early summer evening. The (Italian) waiter stepped up and suggested the special, a cognac peppercorn steak. Beef in Germany isn't always my first choice, but WOW...outstanding! Everyone else had equally great meals. I learned later that to be a chef in this restaurant requires the equivalent of a cordon bleu stays, so not surprised the food was great! GO!

“Great food on a beautiful terrace”
Reviewed June 16, 2012 via mobile

We traveled all over Germany and this was one of the best meals we had. Rothenburg is beautiful and enjoying our meal on the terrace made it more fun. We tried many things on the menu and everything was good! The white asparagus was in season so we had that and escargot as appetizers and both were great. The venison medallions were excellent and the sauerkraut served with the selection of brats was amazing. You can have anything from pizza (which looked good) to full meals with a good German beer to wash it down while you take in the fairy tale setting.
