“GREAT way to spend a couple days in Germany!”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

We spent 2 days in Rothenburg, stayed in the old town part (within the walls) and loved it. Yes, it's touristy, but it is still wonderful - architecture is just so neat and just walking the streets of the town is so much fun.

“Beautiful Bavarian Town”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

Rothenburg is simply stunning. It doesn't look real, but it is- I think their town pamphlet even states that! You can take a full day just to walk around and enjoy the sights and atmosphere. All the old gates and colorful houses/stores and the details on the buildings are beyond words. We walked up the city hall tower where you can get an amazing view of the town.
I took a morning run on the outside of the walls, passed the grape vineyards and ran to the river Tauber where I saw an old mill. The countryside is beautiful as well.
Another Trip Advisor review said there are a lot of tourists groups, but Rothenburg manages them well- this is absolutely true! Do not miss this town because you think it’s touristy. Also, we went in September, but the locals there told us Winter and Christmas are even more amazing.

“Pleased we stayed overnight”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

Very much enjoyed being able to stay a couple of nights in the delightful town. One of the highlights for us was The night Watchmans Tour. It gave an overview of the cities history through the eyes of a medieval Night Watchman. A compressed history lesson told by someone with a great sense of history and humour. He also had an amazing voice that carried to what looked like at least one hundred people following him on the tour.

“beautiful town”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

I really enjoyed this little town, very rich in culture, lots to see and do, the people were very nice and most did speak English fairly well. be sure to take very comfortable walking shoes and you will want to cover as much distance as you can to take in all of the sites. Definitely recommend the night watchman's tour--gives a great history of the town and is a nice night time adventure. I did the climb all the way to the top of the watch tower--be sure to pace yourself, take your 2 Euro so you can go to the very top and take in the view of the entire city. I did the walk on the city wall when it started raining (to stay dry) and that was very nice as well. Be sure to have a small umbrella handy but you won't need it for long. Lots of great restaurants, lots of beer, wonderful wine, loved the little cafe's as well. Ate at the outside dining of the restaurant right next to the big cathedral (can't remember the name) but it was wonderful at sunset.

beautifully preserved old city which has been well maintained so no sky dishes etc. busy centre due to all tourists but you soon loose them down the side streets and visit after five when the coaches depart.
