“Customer service at its best”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We stayed here for a night during our Germany vacation and were extremely satisfied with the stay. The location was great (just a few steps from the old Marktplatz), and the breakfast in the Baroque Garden exceeded all expectations, as we ordered nearly everything from the a-la-carte menu. The room was clean and service was impeccable.

Room Tip: All items in the minibar were included in the price.

Stayed there in our drive through Germany. Located right in the center of the old town, easy walking distance to all the attractions. It was such a pleasure, with their warm and welcoming staff, to their each individually decorated and named rooms to their cute little garden, that they greet you in it with a glass of champagne. It gives you the feeling of staying in a beautiful home and being taken care of by your family. It could not have been any nicer, taking care of our luggage and car once we arrived, and sending us off by walking us to our car and making sure we have the right direction for our next destination. Absouloutly, in my top 5 places I have ever stayed.

After having read numerous excellent reviews of this hotel on Tripadvisor we booked for two nights and it didn´t disappoint. Upon arrival our bags and car were whisked away and we were offered an arrival champagne in the garden. Our room was spacious and looked out upon the old town area. Everything was clean and our every need was considered - pillows, toiletries, chocolates on the pillow when our bed was turned down and drinks in the mini bar. We ate at the restaurant on the first night and the food was the best we have had throughout Europe. Breakfast was included and the second morning we had it in the garden, which was sunny and charming. Our hostess was ever attentive and the staff always pleasant and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to explore this wonderful part of Germany.

During our driving around central Europe, we visited Rothenburg, a mideven age town in central Germany. Using Tripadvisor, we choosed Hotel Herrnschloesschen, and what a welcome! The staff there were out of this world! The hotel itself is great enough, with pleasant rooms, and a nice garden, where we had breakfast.

Rothenburg is well worth a visit, and we were impressed, however it was the level of service on this hotel that impressed us most of all! Hotel apprentices from all over the world, should have stayed here for a couples of days! :-) Welcome to Herrnschloesschen! :-D

Gosh, this is a wonderful place! We arrived after a super stressful car journey from Stuttgart airport. Immediate calm prevailed, with Ulli ushering us into the garden for a cool drink. Our bags were magicked away and the wretched car disappeared somewhere, to return whenever requested. What a wonderful gem this is. A fabulous location right in the heart of the old town (and Rothenburg really is rather magical), and at the same time a super stylish place to stay. The baroque garden at the back is very pleasant for coffee, dinner or breakfast. The rooms we had - the two top suites (7&8) were fabulous. The kids had one, and we had the other - effectively a penthouse for the four of us. Both top suites are air-conditioned duplexes, furnished stylishly, modern and understated. Excellent bathrooms, with rain showers etc, tons of fresh towels, crisp linen, hairdryer, good toiletries - in other words everything you would expect from a 5* property. The complimentary minibar was a nice touch too, as were the "twinkly lights" in the ceiling of room 8. Breakfast was excellent - and each day (we stayed five indulgent nights) they remembered our order precisely from the day before. Everyone was extremely helpful - water for journeys, maps, advice. So - why isn't it a 5* property? I assume because it doesn't have a 24 hour front desk, room service on tap, there is no lift and because the restaurant doesn't open on Monday and Tuesdays? None of this was a problem for us - and provided you recognise this when you book, this is boutique hotel at its absolute best. Note also that Zur Holl is the sister restaurant, which is great fun. We ate at the hotel as well - the food was excellent, well presented and "cuisine" as opposed to hearty Franconian fare. Of course, this isn't a cheap property. But for us, for the first five days of a destressing holiday with our kids (aged 10 and 14) it was a first class experience, unique and worth every penny. I have only one ask : as a travelling Englishwoman, its hard to go to bed without a cup of tea. In the absence of room service - tea and coffee making in the room?

Room Tip: We loved rooms 7and 8. Both are duplexes. If you are a honeymooner, room 8 is super luxurious, with...

I cannot fault this hotel. The service is outstanding, breakfast is to die for the setting and rooms are fantastic. On the face of it the price looks a bit OTT and my worry was there was a chance it was going to be a bit up itself. However not in the slightest its very homely and friendly. We stayed in one of the suites which was just amazing. The only downside was the restaurant was closed on the Monday and Tuesday when we were staying so we did not get to try the food. However they booked us into the the sister restaurant round the corner (separate review) and we were not disappointed.
We have stayed all over the world and this ranks up with the best - highly recommended.
Only downside was when we left both myself and my wife thought we had tipped the amazing porter and therefore neither of us left him with anything. We have resolved to go back some time and make sure we make it up to him.

Room Tip: Try one of the suites at the top of the Hotel they both have Air Con and loads of space.

We had a wonderful stay at this unique hotel which takes the best of a Bed and Breakfast along with the best of a 5 star hotel. Service, kindness, attention to detail....and so many wonderful touches....could not recommend it any higher (unless you are planning to come the next time we are going to be there...in which case we want it all for ourselves!!!!). Thanks Uli and staff...you really gave us a wonderful experience!

Room Tip: Take the Nightwatchman Tour! Stay for more than one night!
