I can not say enough about this hotel. Everything was perfect!! From the bell boy parking our car in the garage, the room, and breakfast. I have never felt so spoiled. The room was beautiful and faced the front which gave us a nice view. The room and bathroom was big and the bed was very comfortable. We went on the night watchman tour and when we got back we were in the mood for dessert and asked if we could order something. They said they could make us anything we wanted. They gave us some suggestions and we selected the chocolate cake. Which was a piece of art when it arrived. Then the next morning for breakfast we got the same treatment. Anything we wanted. The young man made some suggestions so my husband got the Munich breakfast (white sausage and beer-when in Germany...) and I ordered eggs and fruit. When I mentioned I liked strawberries and pineapple, I got a whoel bowl. I believe the young man had to go out to get the white sausage because he left and came back with a butcher package. We felt bad that he went out of his way to get the sausage but felt very special that he did. It made me want to stay longer in this cute little town.

Room Tip: An upper floor with a view is nice but all the rooms looked good.

This hotel is outstanding. It is very well located right in the historic centre of Rothenburg yet sufficently away from the Rathaus area to be quiet. It is an old (over 1000 years old!) building that was renovated last year to an extremely high standard. The decoration is beautiful and very quiet and peaceful. It is very very comfortable. And the iceing on the cake is the staff who from the Manager Ulricke on down are just as nice and as helpful as they can possibly be!

We drove to Rothenburg and on arrival were fortunate to find a parking space right in front of the hotel. Our luggage was brought in and the car was taken off to their garage. We were offered a welcome glass of pink champagne (!!) and then shown to our room. Somehow between our arrival and getting to our room our luggage and our coats had been taken there as well. It is worth noting that there is no lift in the hotel. That was not a problem for us at all.

We had a beautiful junior suite, which looked down onto the garden behind the hotel. It was totally quiet. The room was large and had two levels - a sitting area with chairs, couch and flat screen TV and a large bedroom up a few stairs. The bathroom was beautiful and the towels were thick and fluffy. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the duvets nice and fluffy.

The only negative I can say is that there were no English or French TV channels available. But that is really a very minor thing.

Amazingly the mini bar is included in the room price. There was a very decent small bottle of white wine, some beer and soft drinks as well as nuts. We drank the wine on the first night and it was replenished the following day.

We ate dinner at the hotel on the first night and had a very nice meal - the set menu of 3 courses for 55€. Breakfast was fantastic. We chose from a menu and everything we ordered came exactly as we requested. On the first monring we even had a glass of champagne! (Not on the second, sadly, since we were driving...)

I cannot say enough positive things about this hotel. I thought I had died and gone to heaven!! I have stayed in hundreds of hotels all over the world and this is quite simply the best I have ever found. And I do hope that one day we will be able to go back!! Ulricke and her staff are wonderful people and they really care about their guests.

Room Tip: Splurge for a Junior Suite and make sure to have dinner at the hotel!!

This is one classy, upscale, elegant hotel set in an amazingly restored historical building. The combination of history and elegance makes for an experience you'll appreciate for many years to come. My partner and I spent two nights in one of the first floor rooms facing the front of the building. The bedroom and bathroom were large and elegantly appointed. The staff were sophisticated, friendly, eager to help and completely unobtrusive. They seemed to love what they were doing. The garden/restaurant was magical. On arrival, we were seated in the garden and offered a drink while our luggage was delivered to our room. Dinner and breakfast in the garden was fabulous. The location is right in the middle of everything. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when visiting Rothenburg. I only wish I could find such unique and classy accommodations everywhere I travel.

My wife and I spent two outstanding nights here in early October. As this was our first visit to Rothenburg, I relied heavily on TripAdvisor reviews to select the perfect romantic place for our visit. We were not disappointed. The Herrnschlossen is the latest incarnation of an almost 1000 year-old residence that has been carefully transformed into a small boutique hotel. It seamlessly blends exposed 700+ year-old beams with all the comforts you'd expect in a modern hotel. While there are only eight rooms, each one is uniquely appointed to make any stay at the Herrnschlossen memorable. We originally booked a junior suite, but upon arrival we were happily surprised to learn we'd been upgraded to the Green Leaf Suite. Definitely one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. The room was huge with a separate sitting area, a very large bathroom with an Italian shower and large jetted tub, and a very comfortable king-sized bed. Your view looking up from the bed is a cathedral ceiling of tastefully integrated LED "stars" framed by ancient timbers and beams. The suite also has a loft with another comfortable sitting area and large flat-screen TV. What really sets this hotel apart, though, was the excellent service. From the time we walked through the door, we were treated like family. The entire staff seemed to instantly know our names and our favorite foods and wines. The restaurant was also excellent, with a varied dinner menu and a cooked-to-order breakfast daily. During our second night, we originally planned to try another restaurant down the street, but quickly returned to the Herrnschlossen as nothing else could match its atmosphere or quality.

The Herrnschlossen was the highlight of a great, romantic visit to Rothenburg. If you decide to venture beyond the hotel, we strongly recommend the Night Watchman Tour and the Medieval Crime Museum.

We stayed at the Herrnschlosschen with mein hosts Klaus and Uli, what a wonderful stay. We have stayed in Rothenburg previously at another hotel this time we thought we would try Klaus' - boy are we glad we did. The rooms are great, the food is just the best and the hospitality second too none. A couple while we were there were making an issue about no elevator - get over it, live with the charm of the town, an elevator would be criminal and spoil the charm of this charming hotel. The weather was warm when we were there, high 20's, and the room was fine no need for a/c, just fresh air and how good is that?

Room Tip: View what you can first - if there are any available!

We stayed for two nights and chose the hotel on the basis of the excellent reviews. We were not let down. A warm greeting, a welcome drink and a relaxed check-in procedure all set the right impression from the start. The restaurant was closed so we could not sample dinner but breakfast was not the usual buffet but instead was waitress service with nothing being too much trouble. Fruit juices were freshly squeezed and eggs done whichever way you wanted - such a change from the endless number of hotels that offered dried-up scrambled eggs being kept warm for hours on end. The room was an excellent size. We had booked a superior double and it was very spacious although the colour scheme was quite dark. We were able to see the standard double room that was next door and considering how little time you actually spend in your room awake it would have been perfectly adequate and was more brightly decorated. The only minor flaw was the shower in the bath - at this end of the scale we had expected more than just a shower/tap arrangement. The private car park is a bonus and the delivery/collection service was a nice touch. In conclusion, all hotels should strive to match the service offered here - I felt we paid a 4 star price for 5 star treatment.

We can't speak highly enough about our wonderful stay at Herrnschlossen. From the moment we walked in the door until literally the moment our car door closed and we drove off, Klaus and Uli were there to take care of all our needs. This hotel is a beautifully modern facility in a centuries-old building. The Butterfly Room was spacious with clean modern bath, comfortable bed, and windows that open onto a quiet street and the church across the street. A well-kept window box of flowers here was just one of the many fine touches elevates Herrnschlossen to the top, in our opinion.

Breakfast with many choices including fresh-squeezed juice, mueseli, eggs, cheeses, fresh fruits, fresh bread, and amazing homemade marmalade was a treat. We had dinner two nights as well, and the food was just as good. The table service was excellent. We weren't able to enjoy the garden because of the cool weather, but it also was beautiful.

We enjoyed Rothenburg and Herrnschlossen so much that we extended our stay an additional day. We're already wanting to plan our return.
