If you are looking for some authentic Franconian cuisine then I highly recommend this restaurant. The owner is very friendly and quite accomidating. We arrived at the Burgerkeller exactly as they opened. Even though all of the tables were already reserved, he found us a table and took our order right away. The restaurant is recommended by Rick Steves and I can understand why. It is situated near the main square. After entering the building you will head down a small flight of stairs to an open but cozy keller. Paintings of the medieval era decorate the walls. Aside from the atmosphere, the food is rave worthy. I had 6 small Nuremburger sauages, traditional German noodles, and in-season, locally grown mushrooms in sauce. So very delicious!

This is a charming little restaurant in the cellar of an old building. The food is freshly made (hand-picked and prepared by the owner each morning) and quite delicious. There was only one other couple in the restaurant, but nonetheless if you're in a rush or expecting prompt service you may need to adjust your expectations as the owner is the host, waiter and chef all in one. If you want an authentic Franconian/German meal come here, but just ensure you make reservations! We would definitely come back.

What a fun and relaxing night we had at this restaurant. Our two grandsons were with us and Harry made sure they had an enjoyable evening. We had eaten here several years ago based on a recommendation from Rick Steves and we were not disappointed then or now. The food was excellent and Harry was so attentive. You are the best, Harry, and upon reconnecting with their parents, one of the first stories relayed to them was about how you made a memorable impression on them with your very "unique" beer mug. Thanks so much for a wonderful evening!

The owner fills the restaurant with his homemade cd's of American rock and roll! Food is traditional German and very good. The owner makes the restaurant one of our favorite experiences! As he did when we visited 5 years ago, he was telling us funny Americanized jokes and he makes you feel like you are the only ones there! Don't miss it!

I had read the Tripadvisor reviews and decided to try this restaurant. We had dinner there and I would say that it was good, but not to die for. It was no better or worse than other restaurants in Rothenburg. The prices are reasonable and the portions are good, but again not any different than the other 4 restaurants we ate in while in Rothenburg. It is in a cellar setting with curved ceilings which gives it a nice appearance. The only outdoor tables I saw are out on the sidewalk of the main street and the cellar does not have much room, maybe 12 -14 tables. Unless there is another section that I didn't see I would think that a reservation would be a must during busy times.
