“Lovely lake view and good restaurant”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

We spent one night with a couple of friends in the ground floor 2 bed apartment which was basic but roomy and beds were very comfortable. We had a nice seating area and kitchenette and shared bathroom. All very clean although there was a rather unpleasant smell in the hallway near our rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had a very good meal at the restaurant even though we were late arriving and the chef was probably about to go home. Breakfast was good and the view from the restaurant over the lake is lovely. We could not see the lake very well from our ground floor room through the trees but I imagine if you got a room on a higher floor the view would be very pretty, in fact I got a glimpse of a couple of rooms as we were leaving and they seemed a lot prettier than the apartment. We had a good stay nevertheless.

Room Tip: Choose a room on a higher floor for the best lake view.

The hotel is situated along the direct road to Fuessen which makes easy access to that city and the wonderful castle closeby. Although the road is near, there is low noise level inside the rooms. Check in is easy and prices very modest for such a good location. The lake view (Weissensee) from the hotel rooms is an additional attraction!

Room Tip: Lakeside rooms are further from the road

We had dinner here one evening while staying three nights at a nearby pension. My wife said her roast pork was very good and my fish dish was served on a hotplate with four fillets in a delicious creamy sauce with a salad on the side. I thought the Italian pinot grigio was excellent value and on the palate complemented the fish brilliantly. The service was first-class. A very good find among many tempting destinations.

we stayed four nights in a room with the lake view, and the view is to die for!!! The balcony is shared, so no privacy there but didn't stop us sitting out there for the whole evening just looking out. The room is basic for 100 euro a night. The breakfast is very good and the restaurant has lake view too. The service is the let down of this hotel, not friendly at all. If you ask any questions, you usually just get a yes or no answer, so it doesn't feel like a family run hotel.

My husband an I stayed at this charming family run hotel en-route to Italy !! although the rooms are basic ! they are clean and comfortable and have complimentary toiletries in the shower room ! unfortunately all but the "world news" channel which is in English ! on the small t.v the rest were in German but it still didn't spoil our stay ! we had coffee on the terrace which over looks the beautiful lake and the alps absolutely stunning location !!
A continental breakfast was included in the price we paid ! it was very nice indeed and a good choice of things to eat to set you up for onward travel !! would I recommend you stay here for an over-night stay ? Absolutely !!

Room Tip: rooms are away from the main reception area ! but the ground floor ones are right by the lake !

Just about everything was great! The food in the restaurant was delicious. Especially the steak and the french onion soup. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. They set up a little table just for us every morning in the corner to use the wi-fi. Our room had a great view. The beds were comfortable. The room was fairly big.

The only drawbacks were that there was no internet in the rooms. Also they had a day off in Sunday and we wernt notified. There was a note on the door to the reception and restaurant but only in German so we didnt understand it. Luckily we just assumed it was closed for the day.

We originally were going to stay here only two nights but we loved it so much we changed our entire trip and stayed a total of four nights.

Have been staying at this hotel for over 20 years , and every year it is a pleasure . Location is breathtaking , friendly helpful staff , rustic charm and wonderful food . This hotel is not only for summer , it is equally amazing during all seasons .
A tip is to try something from the Spanish part of the menu .........I had the Paella this year and although you must order 24hrs in advance it is oh so worth it .... the other fish dishes and German fayre is equally amazing .

Room Tip: choose a room with a balcony facing the lake .
