Nice view from the hotel. Bed and breakfast is fantastic. Hotel is located just 20 minutes walk from the train station. The initial room provided had a faulty window but the hotel staff was kind to change another room of similar value for us. The only problem with the second room was the shower room did not drain well and water got accumulated and became a pool (ankle high). We informed the hotel staff the next morning about the problem but problem was still not fixed by evening. So we had to bear with it for another evening.

The staff at the Ruchti is very nice and friendly. They speak English and take care of their guests. The hotel is family run and they make you feel as if you are a part of their family. The single room is small, but it has plenty of space with a small sofa at the end of the bed. The restaurant has wonderful food. I highly recommend the wienerschnitzle. It is by far the best wienerschnitzle I have had. The location is at the end of the road into Bad Fallenbach and across from a park with a nice pond and view of the mountains. There is also a ski jump just across the park. It is also nestled up against the mountains on the backside. Very cozy. The furniture is older with lots of antiques, but it lends to the ambiance. It is a short walk into the heart of Fussen and very close to the Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles. The only downside is the wifi is a bit slow, but at least they have it and you can get it in your room.

We didn't have a booking, but had picked here as one of three options to look at in Fussen. When we checked at reception, 105 Euros including breakfast for two of us seemed fair enough and the room looked fine, so we decided not to check around further. We had a room just up the stairs near reception with a very nice outlook over the park. The hotel is in a nice quiet spot, although there is a tricky road to negotiate going in and out - be prepared to reverse, watching for pedestrians! The hotel decor was maybe a bit faded, but we generally don't spend much time in our hotels so that didn't matter to us. The room had a slight musty smell but we didn't notice after a short time there. The only real problem we had was the tiny shower, where you had to be very careful turning around because the tap was sticking into the limited space, and tended to be adjusted every time you moved. My wife and I are not big people, and I think this would be a major problem for anyone even moderately big. I don't know if this only applied to our room, or is the same through the hotel. The included breakfast buffet was pretty basic but OK. There is a free internet terminal, but you have to pay for wi-fi access in your room. The hotel is a 15 minute brisk walk or a 20 minute stroll to the centre of town. We had one meal in the restaurant, and it was very nice and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly, but the room cleaning could have been a little better. The bed was comfortable, but with very thin pillows which I struggled with. In summary, we thought that although the hotel itself is in a nice location, the tiny shower and other small niggles would have us looking elsewhere for our next stay in Fussen.

Quaint little lodge with lots of old german country antiques in the public areas. Set in a quiet area across from a park with only woods behind it. We've stayed here a couple of times when family & friends visit from the US and want to see the castles. We love it and will continue to come back.
Rooms are adequate size - even the triples. Bathrooms are generous and bedroom is nice with little table & sofa. Quite big enough for 4 people to sit comfortably & review the day. Love to sit and unwind on the balcony.
Breakfast is excellent. There is quite a large variety of items offered and you can't beat it when included in the room price.

The plus points are we had a nice pair of first floor rooms overlooking the park and a ski slope. Staff were friendly and quick to give map to Neuwanstein castle. Plus free internet terminal. But for 121 Euros per room plus 14 Euros each for half board, the decor was dated and the evening meal was not up to the standards of elsewhere in Austria. We wished we'd eaten out in Fussen which is only 10 mins stroll away and has numerous restaurants of all nationalities.

Oh yes and the pillows are the usual rubbish thin Austrian empty envelopes (how difficult is it to fill pillow cases with something substantial?) - I slept with my luggage under the pillow...

Our room was good with more counter space than one often gets in a hotel. There was a skylight, which was a novelty in a hotel. Shower room fine, and our room standard was perfectly good, not shabby etc., unlike some other reviews stated. Excellent and varied breakfasts. The hotel is beautifully situated and very near Fussen, although we missed the turn-off road that it's on to start with, thinking it was some sort of private road..
The receptionist was helpful, even printing out directions for me to our next destination.

Room Tip: If you like skylights, ask for a room with one.

First of all, this hotel is a pain in the bum to photograph. Its position is ideal, at the head of a cul de sac (not shown as a no through road on Google) with a wood behind and an avenue of trees in front (hence being impossible to photograph). Its quiet and yet just a short stroll from bustling Fussen, fourth generation and very friendly.

If you are driving, head for Bad Faulenbach (just off the old part of Fussen) and then head due south up the short steep rise, through a cutting (go very slowly) and turn right.

If you are going up the Tegelberg on the cable car, go early. We saw just two couples in the first two hours, but by the time we got down to the castle it was heaving.

BTW, I had Spaghetti Carbonara one evening. It wasn't on the menu but the lady chef made it for me and it was one of the best I've ever had.
