Visit Fussen most definitely! The "old town" and the nearby castles were a highlight of our trip to Europe. It is so beautiful, clean and absolutely picturesque. We recommend Haus Gabriel most highly. The rooms were large, warm, clean and newly renovated. The bathrooms were clean and modern. Our family of five could spread out comfortably and slept well on large comfortable matresses. Free wi-fi was a bonus. Close to the "Old Town", we could walk to restaurants, coffee houses and the heritage sites listed in all the brochures. The castles are 5 km away. A short drive or a comfortable day walk. The bus is close. The rooms do not have a kitchenette but the breakfast provided was varied and generous and kept us going until mid-afternoon. Best of all, Norbert and Sabo (owners) were a lesson in sincerity, efficiency and hospitality. We had a holiday issue to resolve and they went above and beyond the call of duty to help us. They will look after all your needs. There is no reception but walk around the back and you will find Norbert's number. He will attend to you most promptly. Excellent English spoken. We booked these rooms for a budget price only to be impressed by the fact that they were very classy and in no way "budget". I have written a long comment in an attempt to do justice to the accomodation. Choose Haus Gabriel, you will be most happy that you did!

Haus Gabriel is not a hotel in the traditional sense - no front desk, no common area, no staff around, etc. It is basically a few rooms in a house in downtown Fuessen that the owners rent out. Reservation was done via e-mail. The room was perfect for a budget traveler - clean, little kitchenette including a fridge and a bathroom. Location is excellent. It is a 2 minute walk to the train and bus station and a 5 minute walk to the pedestrian center of town. Grocery stores and restaurants are all close by as well. Right across Haus Gabriel is a pricey hotel. I have no reservations in recommending Haus Gabriel. Again, it is nothing fancy but certainly good for a good night's sleep. Elevator in the building does not work and it is quite a walk-up.

We found this B&B really great. It wasn't really fancy but it had all the basics a person would need. The staff were really great and spoke fluent english. Very informative and helpful in any way they could be. We enjoyed the breakfast and felt comfortable staying there.

The hotel staff was great!! When we had questions about the area or needed help they were only a phone call away. The hotel rooms are newly renovated. The rooms are large and clean. A family of 4-5 would easily fit in one of the family rooms with room to spare. The beds are comfortable. Bring your own toiletries (they do supply towels). The hotel is in a very convenient location.

If you are thinking of going to Füssen, definitely go. The town is very pretty and, of course, there are the 'fairy tale castles' nearby at Neuschwannstein and Hohenschwangau. There are good walks and cycle routes nearby. However the proximity of the castles gives hotels the chance to up their prices.

Haus Gabriel offers a cheaper alternative. It is conveniently sited 100 yards from the station (direct trains to Munich) and close to the Old Town with its bars, restaurants and shops. You can also hire bicycles at the station and catch a bus to the castles there. There is a Netto supermarket more or less opposite the hotel. So the location is excellent. Free Wi-Fi was available.

On the down side, the facilities were variable although was a kettle, sink and electric hobs - almost unheard of in a German hotel. Bahnhof Strasse despite looking like a small, quiet back street was noisy. We were directly above a cafe that opened its awning and got out its furniture around 5 a.m. Traffic was noisier than I would have liked. (But opposite was a hotel charging twice as much - they would have had the same noise problem.)

It is cheaper but remember you get what you pay for. Location though could not be more convenient..

We travelled to Bavaria with a group of friends. We had three rooms on the second floor.
This is a room rental place, with no reception - there is a telephone in a box at the back of the building where you can call the owner from for free. He is a lovely person who only lives 2 km away and arrived within minutes. As of August they are going to have parking space but it is not an issue as it is at the moment - there is a section under a line of trees a couple of mins walkaway where you can park for free anytime. We always found a spot no problem. Rooms are clean, beds are good and bathroom very functional/spotless and seem very new. Rooms don't get cleaned automatically every day, though the owner said we could ask to get them cleaned whenever we wanted.
Breakfast used to be served in the bakery downstairs but it is now in a room on the third floor. Rolls with cheese and salami, cereal and coffee (which could be better). Not amazing but it does the job.
As soon as we arrived the owner gave us a tourist card, which gets you discounts on the entrance fees for the castles and even for the The Partnachklamm gorge - which by the way you should absolutely not miss if you are driving around the area. It is breathtaking! -don't forget to grab it.
I dont think they take cards (though not 100% sure) so be prepared to pay with cash on arrival (you leave the key in the door when you leave)...
We had two cars so we were given on arrival a card for a local garage which we were told to leave on one of the desks in the rooms which we did ... though the system must have broken down at some point as we got a call from the owner that the cleaner had thrown it away as rubbish! Think they need to improve on that.
The whole building is covered by a really good wifi system which works like a treat in all the rooms.
All in all, an excellent place to stay in Fussen at very good value, close to everything (as well as two lovely cocktail bars). there is also a Netto across the road which is quite handy as the rooms have fridges and kitchen corners. If you want amazing Italian food (there seems to be a huge Italian connection here and many Italian restaurants!) il Pescatore is the best restaurant in town. Exceptional food!

i found here at information center. it was difficult to find out because you need to go to cafe first to contact them. breakfast at the cafe is included, clean single room with clean bathroom. kind employee. room was simple. if you wanna stay at a good hotel with confortable expencive bed, this isnt good... but i could sleep well at least. only 2min from füssen station, 1min to supermarket, 3min to main shopping street! i staied there for 4nights and it was pleasant, confortable stay! neuschwanstein, hang around the city. theres no gym, pool, bar, spa, but good enough for just sleep at. but there are many good restaurants, bars near here. i dont need to look for other hotel next time!
