This is a very nice old town situated near the river Lech. The High Castle in Fussen was given its present form at the end of the 15th century. Emperor Maximilian I stayed here fourteen times.

Close to the border of Austria and lots of magnificent places to visit too.

This is a small city museum. By using the quest's card, we paid only 4 Euros for entrance. The part we enjoyed most is the exhibition of the ancient instruments and some of the video showing the making of one of the instruments. All the signs are in German. Since this is only a city museum, I believe they target the local people somehow, and do not bother to explain all things in English. If you are interested in musical instruments, it is worthwhile paying a visit; otherwise, it is a waste of money and time.

Very quiet when we were there, plenty to see. Layout a bit confusing. Old musical instruments and making them exhibit very good. Most of the signs in one language only so not easy to follow the history but were given an English booklet but the layout of the rooms made it hard to follow. Using the discount voucher from the hotel saved a euro or 2, but not expensive anyway. Worth a visit

This little city museum has some impressive history. I really enjoyed the library area. It was helpful that they provided an english booklet to help for those who don't read german.

This museum was a surprise and full of history of Fussen and its surrounds dating back to Roman times. The 'dance of death' painting, the monks library and performance hall were our highlights, but there was much more and well worth the time to see....and you could take photos.
