“Attic Apartment for 7”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013

Our unit booked online for 7 adults turned out to be 2-bedrooms on the third floor level of this 3-storey guesthouse; the unit is good for two couples and if with a few children would also be ideal. However our group had to fit one couple in bedroom 1 (small bedroom without window), bedroom 2 had a double bed for couple 2 and an extra bed for a third person hence very crowded but had one window with castle view; and the other couple got 2 separate beds in the rather large family room with sofa and tv. There was a covered patio with high windows but have to go through the family room so no privacy for the last couple. We should have specified three couples and one single but it was difficult to find hotels online in this lovely town. (turns out, many other guesthouses like this exist in Fussen but not advertised online). But notwithstanding the awkward sleeping arrangements, the unit is very nice, clean, neat and comfortable. There is a grocery downtown 10 minutes by car and we used the kitchen for our hurriedly prepared breakfasts. We spent a day doing Neuschwannstein and enjoying the beautiful countrysides of Fussen, a late lunch at Ludwig's and attended a 6pm anticipated Mass at the quaint but beautiful Church of St.Mang. This part of the Bavarian region is peaceful and relaxing, and this attic apartment is a nice place to rest comfortably.

Super friendly staff. The receptionist gave us maps of the area and the attractions as soon as we arrived and explained tickets and parking around the castles. Nice breakfast option with great variety and fresh eggs. The room was not just clean, it was hospital, hygienic level clean! The bathroom and shower were a comfortable size. The room itself was large and the bed comfortable. It even had a very well equipped kitchenette and dining table that we chose to use when we were tired of restaurant food. Very close to the castles and downtown Fussen but in a nice, quiet area.

My husband and I have just come back from our wonderful 7-day trip to Fuessen. We travel a lot and have a good experience of staying in different hotels in different countries. This time we decided to stay in a small picturesque town to have a rest, to walk and admire autumn nature with its colors and beauty, to visit Hohenshwangau castle (the other ones we visited earlier). So we chose Fuessen as a point of our destination.
We enjoyed very much our staying there at the Gastehous Kopf with charming hostesses Carmen and Martina. They made us feel at home and the atmosphere of living there was warm and comfortable. Both ladies were very amiable with each guest personally, courteous in any situation.
Our room was on the ground floor with the windows on the side of the entrance door, but the quality-price ratio was brilliant! We had a well equipped kitchenett for the case we decided to cook smth. ourselves – and we really enjoyed our cooking there.
The breakfast at the Gastehaus Kopf was very good and tasty. They even proposed to cook the eggs in any way to fit any taste for everyone who likes them. My husband never refused :))
It was really nice.
It took about 20 min to get to the center of the town or the Railway Station by walk. Walking (or hiking) is very popular at that place and we also enjoyed it.
We do very grateful to Carmen and Martina and are planning to come back here next year.

Room Tip: The best option to get room on the side opposite the entrance.

Unfortunatelly our stay was to short. Owner were really charming. A big and nice to have the possibility to have a microwave and clean some glasses if you want to arrange something. Big room and possiblity to stay whole family with 4 members.

Very friendly atmosphere generated by two sisters, Carmen and Martina. We stayed for 4 nights in a comfortable room (furniture a bit outdated) and nice balcony. Room comprised a useful 'kitchenette' ,with adequate utensils and perfect fridge, along with dining table, chairs and good TV. Breakfast was very good if you like 'continental' style (I do!). The hams and cheeses were very tasty. as were the fresh rolls and bread. Coffee was excellent. You could get boiled eggs if required. The accommodation was well situated near the lake and its boat excursions and nice bar/restaurant. Easily walkable into the town (15 minutes) and Fussen is a nice town . Being close to the Austrian border, you can be in and out of it on a regular basis, sometime without realising. Well situated for the tourist requirements. Neuschwanstein castle and the Linderhof palace are a must even though the castle is undergoing some refurb. Go to the bridge behind the castle for scaffold free photography. Get to the ticket centre EARLY - 9am - 9.30am before the coaches arrive if you want to avoid the huge crowds that come to visit. A trip on the local boat is nice and relaxing with good beer and food. The mountains are wonderful providing the clouds don't sneak in. There are a couple cable cars in the area. The small town of Lermoos is situated in a wonderful picturesque valley (and free parking). The stay at the Kopf contributed to a pleasant visit and would stay there again.

We ended up here at about 9:30 pm not having made a reservation. Room was small, clean and a little dated. Good for a one night stay. Stove top cooking facilities were also in the room if you felt like cooking. There is ample free parking for those with a car. The hostesses, Carmen and Martina were delightful, very welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast is in a beautiful sunroom to the side of the main house and is plentiful with delicious breads, cheeses, meats, and yoghurt. The location is a bit of a walk from the city but we preferred being in a quiet neighbourhood. There is good access to the two main castles in the area and other points of interest.

Nice place with old decor but a comfortable place with friendly staff. A bit out of town set on a housing development. You will need to walk 20 mins to the town.
