Wandering through the streets of Dinkelsbuhl made us hungry, so we began looking for a good place for lunch. There were lots of people eating on the terrace of the Hotel Deutsches Haus, so we decided that would be a good place to stop. Deutsches Haus is a 15th century family owned hotel.
It was a warm and sunny day, so we opted to have lunch indoors where it was cooler. The inside of the restaurant was wonderful with great atmosphere. The staff was friendly and courteous and took care of us immediately. It didn't take long for our meal to arrive and it was delicious, and of course, accompanied by some good German beer. I had a thick slice of porkloin, which comes from local farmers. It was covered with onions, mushrooms, bacon and fresh cherry tomatoes with a lovely cream sauce. It came with a side of thinly sliced fried potatoes and onions. My husband had tender slices of beef with dark sour cream gravy and potato dumplings. Those dumplings were not like mine, so he passed on eating them and shared my potatoes. We were too full for dessert, so we just sat for a few more minutes to enjoy our beer.
There is also a hotel in the same building. I looked up their rates and accommodations for future trips and it all looked great with breakfast included in the room rate! We will definitely return to the Deutsches Haus in Dinkelsbuhl. You can read more about it on their website: www.deutsches-haus-dkb.de. They have an English Translation for the website.
