Description: Murdock’s is a place where everyone feels at home and embraces the Irish spirit. We invite you to a taste of the famous Irish pub culture of hearty food and drink, great live music, friendship and lots of good ‘craic’. An authentic Irish pub is much more than a place to have a few beers. In Ireland, it’s where you meet friends and neighbours, and you’re greeted by name when you walk in the door. Call today for reservations or stop down before a football game or after a show, check out our private party spaces, or catch a big sports match on one of our 4 TV screens (various national and international sports shown upon request). Come early for football matches and stay late for live music. Feel welcome and help us carry on an old Irish tradition. Make Murdock’s ‘your local’. We‘re looking forward to meeting all of our new friends and raising a pint with you upon your next visit, sláinte!

“'You should feel like being in your own living room'”
Reviewed January 3, 2012

Murdock's Irish Pub has seats for at least 70 guests with bar-stools, tables and chairs and even a sofa which must be comfortable as it is always occupied.

The pub is very comfortable, the decoration is as authentic Irish as is possible here in Germany, whilst still immaculately clean and well presented.

There is a friendly atmosphere here. James Murdock has a talent for hiring and training the best staff. We are always greeted with a friendly smile and never have to wait long to be served, even when the pub is bursting at the seams, which seems to happen quite often as there is a pretty constant programme of events from showing of important football matches and other major sporting events to quiz nights to live music to Whiskey tasting dinners.

Breakfast is served on Sundays from 11.00 o'clock onwards. Here you can enjoy a great variety of breakfasts 'A la Carte' a beer or two and many pleasant conversations. James himself is often there and enjoys taking time out to talk with his customers, in fluent German as well as English – I have not tried Gaelic yet ;-) The evenings are not often quiet but, nonetheless, always friendly and orderly – even when FCA matches are showing on the three flat-screen TVs.

The Menu has recently been re-written and is very professional. It is also very big, but nevertheless well organised so that one always has an overview. There is a large selection from salads and sandwiches to hamburgers, steak pies to Irish steaks and, naturally, vegetarian dishes. There is literally something for everyone here and it is all of the very best quality to very reasonable prices. Murdock's is a sit-down restaurant / Irish pub and not a cheap 'Imbiß', he does not do take-aways either; but this is a pro not a con.

In contrast to the Menu there is such a large selection of English, Irish and German beers and ciders, and Scottish and Irish whiskeys, that an overview is almost impossible. James has a Whiskey Menu with many Irish Whiskeys and 110 Scottish Whiskeys with detail descriptions of each. This Menu should be increased in 2012 to approximately 150 he tells me. However, as some of the more exotic English, Irish and Scottish drinks have to be directly imported, one must have a little sympathy for slightly higher prices than for the run of the mill German beers. Otherwise, all drinks are available at normal pub prices.

Murdock's is unique, not only in Augsburg but at least as far as Munich. There are many so-called Irish Pubs, but you have to do more than sell Ballantine's to be authentic. Apart from which, the impression here is almost like being in a pub in Ireland. James has a philosophy, which he has put into effect very well, 'You should feel like being in your own living room.'

Love this place. The English Quiz Night on Monday's is so much fun. The staff is so kind and accommodating. Food is really good (get the enchiladas!) and prices are great!

“return visit”
Reviewed July 22, 2010

Dropped back into Murdocks this year... Jim recognised us right away and greeted us with a " your back!!!"
We had another fine evening here and Jim had plenty time to chat even though they were flat out serving the hungry opera crowd who wereattending the opera next door. The portions were huge and us and the kids all enjoyed our visit.... Wel be back again!!!
