We got 2 rooms, a double and a triple. We added breakfast for 5 Euro each. It was very nice. The beds were comfortable. Everything was very clean. The desk man recommended our dinner place, within walking distance and it was also delightful. Breakfast was plentiful and had a nice selection. Plan on stairs. No lift in sight and we were on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Not a problem for us, but just be aware. Parking is right out the door, and tight, but free. There was no shower curtain so I got water everywhere, but the bathroom was adequate and very clean.

Small, good service, breakfast was good, good location, near supermarkets.

A good base to explore Augsburg, and good town to stay in if going to Munich.

Dont expect a hotel service, its more of a motel with a nice breakfast BUT be warned, at Oktoberfest time its full of drunken kids...perhaps they should have a policy to stop this cos the bathrooms were filthy every morning...vomit, pee, and it one case semen! Not the hotels fault, but still...

We had a room with 2 single beds, and shared bathroom. I would recommend to only have a room with its own bathroom to avoid the issue above...

Really in the end, its a nice place for a backpacker, but a budget place for hotel goers.

Room Tip: Rooms with there own bathrooms are a must! Dont get the shared ones...

Positive:

- Excellent combination of low price and good location next to the old center.
- Many rooms face a small courtyard and are quiet. Don't know about the others.
- Parking.

Negative:
- Rooms are small.
- Breakfast wasn't included.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the courtyard

I stayed at Jakober Hof for a week or so with a friend. The location is fantastic and all the main attractions, bars, restaurants etc. are within walking distance. The Fuggerei is almost directly opposite the hotel, and this will appeal to many visitors. When travelling in and out of Augsburg, which was regularly, we walked to the train station from the hotel in 15 minutes or so.
The breakfast is good and the staff were friendly. The value is excellent.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our trip along the Romantic Road in Bavaria, Germany.

Overall, this was probably the least enjoyable hotel which we stayed in along our entire trip. It lacked any charm and the neighbourhood is not great.

The hotel has 2 buildings. Reception and breakfast is in one building. We were in the other one. There is no lift, so it was a bit of a hike to get all th bags up those stairs!

Breakfast was pretty good. Lots of cereal, bread, toast, meats and cheeses. A good slection of teas and hot drinks. There was plenty there and it was filling.

The hotel staff were in general very accomodating and friendly. The rooms were clean and functional, but nothing special.

We ate at the Fuggerei Stubbe which is literally down the road and found it to be very good. Other than that, it is probably best to go around the Rathaus area to find something to eat.

There was free parking at the hotel. It is limited, but we were fortunate to be able to park there for the 2 day duration of our stay.

We made reservations over the phone, but when we arrived, the clerk said our original room would not have been comfortable for 4 people. They upgraded us to a suite at no extra charge!
We had 2 large bedrooms, one with a couch/coffee table area, bathroom and kitchen. We also had access to a huge balcony.
Downfall: no elevator and it was up 3 flights! But we had so much room and this room would have fit a much bigger family. It could have slept 7 people.
Staff was nice and let us keep our daughter's wheelchair/stroller in their office so we didn't have to cart it up those stairs.
Breakfast was the typical, wonderful German style with fresh rolls, cheeses, meats. Excellent!!

Stayed here in May 2010. We needed a room for 3, so we stayed at the Jakober Hof. The front desk staff were friendly, but the room left much to be desired. The lighted headboard was dilapidated and looked as if it would fall apart. The beds were on cheap metal frames and rickety. We fought over who got the only decent duvet. I think our room was last updated in the 1970s. The TV did not work and the wardrobe was rickety. The shared toilet on our floor was frequently in need of toilet paper, and the shared shower room was nothing special. Our room was certainly a smoking room once upon a time, as the smell hung in the air. I wish we would've spent a bit more and stayed elsewhere. We are used to no frills so as to save money, but we couldn't wait to leave this hotel.
