“traditional Bavarian food and good beer”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Spitalgarten has a large biergarten, but it was raining the day we were there.
The atmosphere is Bavarian, and the food is traditional Bavarian (the gulasch was superb), and they brew their own excellent beer. (What else could you want?)
There were lots of locals who all seemed to know each other.

“Best Bavarian meal ever.”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

Very authentic eating along the Danube. Had the LeberKase, and it was awesome. The do offer English menus, but we were with Deutch colleagues, so they helped us choose. Great location about 200m from the N end of the Old Stone Bridge.

“Great beer, awesome view, and rooms for guests”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Great location, on the bank of the Danube, the beer and food was good, and prices were ok.

They offer accommodation in some rooms located at the first floor, right above the restaurant. Everything is basic, furniture is old, but all was clean. Showers are on the hallway and are shared with all the occupants.

We were touring by bicycle and we had to leave the bikes locked to the bike stand right next to the entrance, but the gate closed after 11, so they were pretty safe during the night. The staff was really helpful, and let us wash the bikes with a hose, as that day we rode through some bad weather and we were full of mud.

“Home away from home...”
Reviewed February 19, 2012

Living in Regensburg, I visit the Spitalgarten in all seasons. Spring & Summer enjoy the Biergarten with very friendly service, satisfying food and perfect ambiance. For a change try the "Dunkelbier" a rich dark brew, try it in a liter Stone Mug "Stoahmass". For sun sit on the fence or around the corner from the grill. There is also a small, enclosed children's playground and a small terrace where you can book family get togethers.
Autumn and winter sit in the bar or the side room (you can book for small private parties) enjoy an extensive menu with classics and gourmet selection. I first came here in 1989 and discovered the "Grilteller" a mixed grill of steak, pork, veal, sausage, bacon, herb butter, horseradish, chips (fries) and salad and it is still going strong.
There is also a large dining room you can book for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries or "Einfach So..."
There are two toilets for people with disabilities, one inside and one in the garden... Just ask your server for the key...
Lunchtime, afternoon, after work, dinner, night or special occasions like the jazz festival etc. the Spitalgarten is home to everyone who visits... Tell them Tim the Magician sent you and if I am there I will entertain you for free...
