Description: The historic and stylish ambience of the Leerer Beutel restaurant in the centre of Regensburg works well together with the first class cuisine, and the cultural highlights make this an experience for all of your senses. In the Leeren Beutel, you are served completely individual dishes in keeping with the time of year, which the chef is constantly changing to include new varieties. The regional Upper Palatinate cuisine is often inspired by what the staff have discovered on their own travels and then bring to the kitchen. This mix of traditional, seasonal cuisine makes for a great culinary experience for those looking for something different. In the same building as the Leere Beutel you can also visit a jazz club and the town gallery, so that here you can not only find enjoyment for the taste buds, but also for the eyes and ears!

With a great support of staff I've organised a really nice surprise birthday dinner.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was great. Music acoustics was just fine, so we were able to have a calm conversation.
The food was very good and service was super friendly.
I really recommend this place in the heart of the city.

Schweinshaxe and similar touristic meals will probably never turn up on the menu of this gem. Rather hidden in a small street outside the core of the touristic center this restaurant offered a special fish meal for Good Friday and heaps of somewhat traditional, but still inspired dishes.
We were very positively surprised by the quality of the food and the hospitality of the waiters.

A good place to dine under a ceiling made of massive vaults.

We would not have found this place if not for seeing it on trip advisor. The entrance is down an side road and not that obvious. The restaurant is down some steps in the basement of a large building. It feels like your sitting in some medieval castle with huge stone pillars and old wooden beams.

The restaurant was busy, but the majority of the patrons were locals. The staff were friendly but didn't speak much English but we managed with the help of one English menu.

Three of us had scallops with chorizo to start and one had a local cold meat selection, all very tasty.
For mains one of had duck another had a meat stew of some kind and two of us had THE burger. the burger was the best burger both of us have ever had!!! It came with sweet potato fries which themselves were heavenly.
The burger was in an onion bread roll with crispy bacon, cheese and barbecue sauce.
It was like no burger I've had before. Once you buy into the meat has a pink colour but not because it was undercooked. I can only assume it's something to do with the way they prepare the burger. The whole thing melted in your mouth and the flavoured all worked so well. We both agreed it was well worth the €20.80 it costs.
I'm pretty sure the other guys enjoyed their mains but I was too busy enjoying my burger to notice really.

For desert I had the chocolate mousse which again was very tasty. You could taste the bitter chocolate and it was lovely and smooth.

All in all a cracking restaurant

GO FOR THE BURGER!!!

Thank Stephen M
