“A Gothic cathedral (no flying buttresses) that impressed”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

The map of the inside of the cathedral was quite informative and useful in understanding the different high points to see here. Everything from the crypt where many of the bishops (who were co-rulers of the city with the local Prince, before Regensburg became a free Imperial city) were buried, to the little carvings of the Devil and his grandmother crouching in niches below statues of saints.

What can I say? This cathedral is huge. Truely lovely and amazing! Don't miss it. Just a short walk from the Old Stone Bridge.

The cathedral was stunning! I have never seen a more magnificent building. The inside was gorgeous and it was a real treat to walk around and learn about it's history.

“A trip back in time”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

Some cathedrals have a polished, immaculate, ready-for-their-closeup sense about them. This one doesn't. It feels like the real deal, a church that's been used daily by regular folks for centuries, a little shopworn, a little quirky but totally relevant to people.
