“good, not great...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2012

We had dinjner here our first night in Nuremberg - it was good but not great and the service was good but not great. That said, the food was good and we were not rushed in eating.

“Small and may be full, good beer food and atmosphere at modest prices,”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2012

In december with Kristkindlemarkt going on it was full and we could not get a table the first evening and booked for next day. Cosy, full of locals, typical local franconian food in quantity and filling but like other places in Nurnberg remarkably inexpensive .
Short walk from Fauernkirchen. Worth a visit, but book.

“Great atmosphere and wholesome food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2011

We wandered round the old town for 10 minutes inspecting several traditional German restaurants. At 7pm many were near empty - the town is not busy in October - but we noted that Alte Kueche was pretty full. We got one of the last two tables and at the end of the meal were very pleased with our choice. We all tucked into various traditional dishes, from Nuremberg bratwurst to the grill and pork shoulder with crackling. The desserts were excellent and father and son shared a very good cheeseboard. We found the local Franken wine offered very good value and ticked lots of boxes.

Service was very friendly - staff are dressed traditionally but not in a naff way. The place was packed and we enjoyed the atmosphere and would have gone back if we had been staying another day.

“Great ambiance, good food, very friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2011

The Alte Kuch'n is a warm & friendly restaurant. We dined here twice, and celebrated the Spargel (asparagus) season with abandon. Martin, the manager was very helpful tutoring me on Franken wine. The wine choices were all spectacular. Perhaps the Keller is touristy, but the Kuch'n seemed more a neighborhood inn.
